Why Does Everybody Hate "Bumping"

It really depends on what type of bump it is, or if the bump is relevant to the thread, or even if the thread is still relevant to the forum, or if it's the OP doing the bump (which is the bad kind, and just shows that OP is an impatient git who wants an answer to his question immediately).

Usually not that great an idea to bump something that's older than 6 months or so, though.

I just realised regular users have mod powers.
If you bump an ancient thread it ends up locked. So in theory, we have the potential to lock (in a roundabout way) certain threads.
