2) You have to realize that unlike open-source CFW they have to rewrite a huge part of their launcher to use new firm and encrypt all the changes like usual.
This sounds like BS, if they are so aweful at programming that they need to rewrite it each time. They just just release the sourcecode and let people update it for them. They can just cram out cards that nobody hardly buys.
Um no, it died because it died, maybe because they couldn't afford to make new hardware/software or maybe they weren't getting enough profit. For example Supercard team is still alive.
Supercard is still alive because they continued to sell cards well in to the 3DS era, Acekard 2i was made for the DS and not the 3DS. However, thanks to how Supercard built theirs firmware upgradeable, they were able to bypass the blacklist pretty easily.
Acekard 2i wasn't built for this, it was made for a un-upgradeble system.

Gateway is not there to make software for you, they're there to sell hardware to you. Making hardware/software combo that can't be copied by other chinese manufacturers is their goal, its not about offering new features, immediate updates, etc.
If they don't have enough profit or just can't create copy-proof launcher they simply won't release new update rather than risk losing the entire market.
Right now they're probably not getting anything at all.[/QUOTE]
Yes, yes they're. They are there to sell you software. If I wanted nothing else but the games running, I could just get something like Sky3DS that is probably a heck of a lot easier to use than a gateway that requires a exploit to run.
There isn't really any market for them to exist anymore. I bet it have tanked hard lately and therefore they're even slower to update than ever.
I don't own a GW, I tought about buying one in the past, but the brickcode was the dealbreaker for me.
