Gaming Which setup for Pokemon Fire Red?

A while ago, I found my Pokemon Red cart and tried to play a little Pokemon Stadium with it. Unfortunately the transfer pak failed on me and corrupted the entire game while saving. Nonetheless, it still gave me a little nostalgia boost and I want to get back into Pokemon again. I want to start with Pokemon Fire Red but which setup would be suitable so that in the future, I can transfer the Pokemon to the DS games? At the moment, I have a EZ Flash IV which goes with the GB Micro and I also have a DS lite with the EZ Flash 3in1. I know there are emulators as well for mobile phones but my experience with touchscreen on emulators is far from enjoyable.
