So, I want to get an R4 for my 2DS just because its probably the cheapest option. Which one should I get? I know different ones work differently from personal experience. Where should I get it from? Is there a website thats best? If it helps, I'm on 9.2.

So does it matter whether i will get a more expensive card like the one bellow

http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149

Or the cheaper one (bellow)

If i just want to play DS games on 2DS/N3DS.

Is the cheaper more prone to failure or does the more expensive one just have more features. Playing DS games is really the only thing i care about.

Also is there any difference between
R4isdhc GOLD and R4 SDHC Dual-Core 2016

Seen here http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=490

I bought 3 types of r4 cards in december while waiting for a sky3ds+ for 3ds games

On my brand new N3DS the first seemed a bit loose in the card slot you'd have to push well on one of the sides of the card for it to click in. However it worked perfectly with the software from it's site.

The second and third ones were much better physically and would slot into the 3ds just fine. However both of them would hang when i try to load a game. The second card i managed to get to work using a different firmware but it was still not perfect. I didn't get the 3rd one to work with the 3ds properly. I finally managed to sell the 3rd one to a DSi owner for whom it worked just fine.

My suggestion is to go for the first one it's expensive but less hassel.

Thanks. I will go with the expensive one which both of you are recommending.

I still have questions about the emunand. Well the first question is that what exactly is it? I see people referring to it everywhere but i haven't seen good explanation to what it is. Someone one reddit said that it's something that you use to upgrade the system's firmware without really updating it.

Is it something that is absolutely necessary to have to these cards to work or is it just a tool to jump between firmware?

So if i did actually update to 10.4 and have the card's software up to the 10.4 and then plugged it in would it work it with just that or i'm suppose to have this emunand thing on my system's card? If it's required is it hard to install?

I also have a R4i Gold, works fine. The R4i Gold is the "good" one, which uses the very good Wood Kernel. I'd recommend that one too, not the SDHC.

I can confirm that it needs a bit of pressure to click in the slot, but it's nothing to worry about. Probably minor variations in dimensions compared to an original cart.

The EmuNAND thing is only relevant if you have CFW installed, which you should consider if you are on 9.2. Basically the EmuNAND is a copy of your original system firmware that can be updated and messed with while the original firmware is untouched.

Thanks. I did install menuhax through the browser on my 10.3 but i do not have anything more serious than that on my systems card. Not really planning to do any bigger tinkering because i'm afraid of messing something up and ruining my system.

Anyone knows how to play nds games with R4 without messing with the DS profile exploit for Rxtools?.
The ds profile exploit has absolutely zero to do with using ds flashcards. Pop your flashcard in and start it. If you have a flashcard that was blocked at some stage you would need something like the old flashcard Whitelist or flashcardtimewarp

I can play ds games without problems but when I do it the ds profile exploit is modified and I can enter in Rxtool.

That's the best part of having emunand, mess up to your hearts content and start over lol
