Can anyone confirm about the Japanese Black 3DS LL?
The seller states the box serial is - SJH1142xxxxx

Just bought a red 3DS XL from Walmart with SW10 serial(it was in the back of the case collecting dust)! It came with 4.2 firmware. Some other stores in my area still have them as well.

Purchased a Pink/White 3ds XL SN: 1272xxxxx from eBay.
The firmware is 4.5.0-10U

Had a stroke of luck and found a bunch of them at a Toys R' Us. I think all of them are compatible.
3DS Metallic Red: CEM 11646
3DS XL Red/Black Combo: SEH10013490
3DS XL Silver/Black Combo: SEF101807xx (two copies)
3DS XL Blue/Black Combo: SEF10187235

It does weird me out to find so many at the same place, big store no less. It might just be old boxes, but I think they'll let me at least check the back of a 3DS to see if it matches, and maybe even test it out if I ask nicely. At the very least, the metallic red should be a sure bet, but I don't find it in the European sheet, so can anyone confirm that?

I can confirm as well that Toys R Us had two of them in stock (fw 4.5 and below) so prob a good place to check. Just look for SW12....serial. I also bought a brand new one off of ebay for 185 shipped which was very good so always check there too.

Could you tell me where did you find the seller who was kind enough to tell you the serial? Is it an online shop?
It is below 4.5, I believe, cause it's below SJF1265xxxx.
But you have SJH, and it's not actually Japanese serial?

I was intentionally thinking about getting it anyway even if the firmware was higher as I could use for a collection but hope so firmware 4.5 would be nice, thanks. And yeah, it's SJH which he even included the picture so I'm still unsure if its updated past 4.5.
Unfortunately I saw this from my local auction site that doesn't ship worldwide. They got it when they were in Japan but selling due to region lock here.

Good news for me, bought one of the red and black models at Toys R' Us and it came with 4.2. Gonna order gateway right now, but here's some stats for the list.
Region: Europe
Year: 2012
Colour: Red+Black
Serial: SEH10063425 9
Firmware: 4.2.0-9E

Was completely untouched, they didn't want to let me turn it on because they'd have to open it and configure the settings. So at least in Portugal, Toys R' Us is a safe place to get a 3DS, no worry that they have updated, plus at least in my region they had tons of stock in various colours.

HOW can you confirm the serial number on the BOX, without need to open it?
Cause every 3dsLL I saw had only numbers on the box, and no letters.
And fun thing is, the numbers on the box could be the same for the same model, but serial numbers on the back of the 3dsLL of the same model are totally different

All of them are same on the outside, and was packed in 2013, but when you look at the back of the console...
So the question is

Gateway is region-free so any 3ds with good FW, should do the job.

1) my friend from Japan will go there soon, so she's going to buy it for me and come back here
2) it's cheaper this way. Prices here in Russia just too crazy

sw1345 is higher than 4.5 so don't buy. Look at the 1st post link to see what you need.
