It's the age old story... you know, boy buys acekard, acekard works for 2 years then has connection issues, boy is to lazy to use paper trick, boy wants to know what store is the best to get a new acekard.

no, they seem to be worse. i received 12 brand new acekards for testing and found they all had contact issues. my ak2i from 2 yrs ago is still going strong.

do you have the old 2i with the clips and unglued shell? that one is SUPER easy to get working, just open it up and slide a tiny thin slice of magazine paper behind the teeth. its 100% cheaper than buying a new ak and it is pretty much guaranteed to fix your problem.

I'll post an answer relevant to the OP's question. I highly recommend RealHotStuff, free shipping and they didn't mess up my order.

of course, I've bought plenty of other things from them too, everything works perfectly and shipping is very fast.

Last place I bought mine was deal extreme but they stopped carrying them. Just don't get them locally. They try to screw you over. At the flea market was tryin to sell me a dstt for $50

etcome.com are quite good, only took two weeks to arrive from China to the UK (free shipping).
My ak2i that I got on Saturday doesn't have any contact issues.

I got mine from DScartshop. Really satisfied with their service. Though I did receive an email from them saying that they changed their website. Can't exactly remember all too well so don't quote me on that. But yea. :D

@Anotherworld, mine seems to be glued together pretty well, the teeth slide around so i know what youre talking about there, but i cant seem to get the thing open

Edit: Just popped it open and stuck a piece of paper in there, works like new, thanks man!... now just have to glue it together so it isnt popping open constantly...

i use super glue that i pick up at the dollar store. its the one with the pen like tip, so you can get a perfect tiny little drop. keep in mind that super glue will be a near-permanent solution, i've been able to reopen cards i glued shut but it took a lot of effort and patience. if you don't mind the look you can use a bit of tape to hold it shut. however, tape will often fix the contact issue as well. so you may want to try removing the paper and just using some tape around the whole card. if you are going to do both paper and tape then use the thinnest paper and tape that you can find. you don't want it so thick that the pcb is pushing on the slot-1 pins, you could end up bending one.

always nice to read the same thing written in two completely different ways.

I've had just about all of my friends come to me with contact issues. It's about half and half with who has Acekards and who has R4s. The chances of Acekards getting contact issues is really high, just from looking at all the cards I've had to fix.

However, I've found that every single flash card was getting deep grooves on the contacts and that the paper trick was making them worse and worse, so I wouldn't recommend the paper trick. But hey, even my R4's starting to get scratched contacts (that's how it starts - simple vertical scratches along each contact due to pressure from the contacts inside the DS. No, it's not something you can wipe off. I've tried that). Even my legitimate copy of Okamiden, too.

...Just go to RealHotStuff. That's where a few of my friends bought their flash cards and they say the place worked out just fine.
