While I completely agree that scalpers are screwing everyone else over, the situation would probably be about the same without them.

I don't agree. The situation would be different. Players who want them would be getting them for the MSRP rather then the inflated price scalpers charge. We would have less "Where can I buy for under $400" and more "I love my shiny limited edition console!"

go back to that store again when its open.

there should still be lots spread over retailers. specially those that are a little out there, as opposed to middle of big cities

Sold mine three hours after I bought it for $425 and went out and bought a N3ds black with the profit.

great story man?.....

There's been some red n3DS XLs in the USA that have 9.4. Might want to roll back that statement. :P

None of the MM Special Edition units have anything past 9.2 yet though.

yep. got fucked over from a red 9.4 at Best Buy online. Now no one has them in retail stock so I can't pick what I want. Every goddamn retailer wants me to buy online, wait and see if I get lucky.

major retailers in big cities like target and bestbuy were only getting 2-3 systems each
walmart didn't recieve any stock, many smaller chains did not either

I doubt any store will have this even if its pretty out there

I copied the sku number and had my local walmart do an inventory search for the MM n3ds and they show as "on order 4 units" I'm not sure if they will ever receive them though

Can't say I agree with you either Vass. I was watching all of the stores closely and only got a preorder for the MM edition by Gamestops very limited in-store only deal, and in order to get THAT I had to call a store in NY to get details, then call 4 stores in my area who had no idea about the pre-order. Thankfully one of the managers really wanted it as well and called me back after he said he got the email from corporate. I ut on my running shoes and made it to a local GS to be one of the first orders in my region.

The point is, I've never had this issue when pre-ordering something through Gamestop, I've always been able to walk in and say "pre-order for the collectable/limited edition please", but not this time around.

Also - Look at the Amiibo. There are hundreds of them on ebay for twice the price of the original. Now here I am praying I can make it to a local store after work tomorrow to get my hands on an Ike and Megaman...

Why not import an Australian Zelda N3DS (Assuming you're going to use Gateway/Sky) ?

I managed to find a deal of 296$ for Aus Zelda XL (including shipping).

Assuming you didn't spend more then the MSRP, then you're the exception, not the rule.
oh nope, i paid more, but not too much....still im happy :)

i had sold a couple of old 3DS's i had lying around which covered most of it.....yeah scalpers ruined the fun a bit, but thats life if your too slow :P

Too slow? You do know a lot of us couldn't even pre-order this stuff BEFORE it was announced? They were sold out EVERYWHERE before the stores in my area opened that day, before I even woke up to check online. All because of asshole scalpers.

they wern't too slow....but no i shared a amazon link 2 days ago, and it took till today for the scalpers to hit them all...so people who wanted the console could of got it for £225...now its up to like £300 (not that anyone would pay that i hope)

They aren't too slow because they use programs to snipe this stuff seconds after it's announced.

yeah i know im joking, but its partly down to nintendo too for letting people order more than one and not having some sort of captcha on high demand items to stop bots

then again why do they care, they probably want the "buzz" around them to generate awareness of the n3DS

you could always have one of these badboys!

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
