Yes, another poll. Yes, it's been discussed in at least two other threads (US government in shutdown and the blame game). Here, I'm just curious about the endgame.
The political divide between republicans and democrats is about the only thing both parties agree on. But thus far, with republicans controlling the show, democrats have been put on the sideline the whole time. And still would have, if government funding didn't require a two third majority. Put the blame where you want (again: other thread) but the needed votes weren't reached.
This is where both parties start the finger pointing. It's about health care. As far as I understand it, democrats claim to want to extend the current situation of affordable healthcare for low and mid-earning Americans (which was set to expire at the end of this year). Republicans claim democrats want an extension to include illegal aliens. No agreement was reached, so the government is in "essential jobs only" mode.
Now...depending on your position, this isn't good.
Lefties: the point has been raised that what democrats are doing isn't making a compromise but making demands. Since the republicans have most of the power, that position isn't wrong. In fact, it's a fair assesment.
Righties: since democrats are claiming that they DON'T want illegals to get tax-payed health care...why are republicans claiming they do? If that's true, then the shutdown isn't an anomaly but a goal.
I've made statements (based on reports) that free speech is dead in the US. That means that at least most of the public media is biased and information filtered or censored. It also means that both parties resort to "their" sources and distrust or reject the other side. Which also makes the end of this debacle troublesome. Initially I thought it'd end like the first Trump-presidency shutdown: an anticlimax because some non-essential workers turned out to be essential (air traffic controllers). But it seems they've learned from that and they're safe now(1). Which means I've got no clue how it'll end. Hence the poll.
So what's your take on this? (again: on how/when it'll END. There are threads on the why and who's to blame)
(1): ...except they're now unpaid and will get their current pay back after the shutdown or something
