"First, we are eliminating 268 roles across Halo Studios, other first-party studios, and the XGS management and central functions layer. The actions completed since July, inclusive of the studio divestitures, bring us roughly three-quarters of the way through previously announced restructuring. I am deeply grateful for what our colleagues have built, and I know how difficult today will be for those leaving and the teams around them. Second, we are reorganizing our studios. The goal is to strengthen our franchises and games by operating fewer business units, aligning groups that already work closely together, and focusing our publishing expertise." - Matt Booty
  • Activision will expand its remit to World’s Edge, as well as Rare. Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty. A small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games in-market.
  • Bethesda will expand its remit to include Obsidian, which will continue its current projects, including Grounded, as well as the new Fallout project made in collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios.
  • King will expand its remit to include Microsoft Casual Games, uniting our two global leaders in casual game design and live operations.
  • Playground and Turn 10 will come together as one studio focused on the Forza and Fable franchises. These two studios have been creative and franchise partners for over a decade, and today’s changes will formally move their work into one team.

To be honest imo, last few Halo games under 343 studios have kinda been a disappointment, so I'm looking forward to a new dev, maybe it will be better, maybe not. Time will tell, I guess.
343's Halo games were poop straight from the butt. I am sure Activision will make sure the future Halo games are even worse

For me Halo ended with Infinite. Very lazy story writing. The game map as cool but it was just more of the same.

I was somewhat a hardcore fan of the Halo universe. I've read all the books up to the last ones they released with Halo 4 and i loved all the lore.

Then Halo 5 came out and i was not a fan of the story but it was not that bad, compared to Infinite. Infinite had potential but was really lazy and i came to turns that MS really does not have the talent to continue this franchise.

I have gigantic doubts that we will ever see a sequel to infinite, or just great other titles in the Halo universe, like Fall of Reach and ODST.

I think that we will see a reboot or a remake in the Activision style, so get ready for a micro transactions galore and focus on multiplayer and mediocre story and campaign.

Now i'm more preoccupied with Turn 10 and the main Forza games. I do like the Horizon but i prefer the main sim like Forza.

Edit: i cant type for sh*t :/

Really if you just get The Master Chief collection you'll be set for a while it usually goes on sale for $10 often.

Obsidian will keep its "creative identity," Bethesda president says

"The creative identity and strengths that make Obsidian distinct will remain at the core of their studio and work. Feargus [Urquhart] and the Obsidian leadership team will continue to lead Obsidian, with the studio reporting to me. Bethesda Game Studios will continue to lead the Fallout franchise. Together, the teams will build on their longstanding relationship and the early work already underway on a new Fallout project, with more to share in the months ahead. This structure supports the franchise-led model we've been strengthening while keeping accountability for both the studio and the franchise clear." -Bethesda's president Jill Braff
