Between the Gateway (PhenomII X2/AMD HD4250 integrated graphics) and the Thinkpad (Core i3/Intel HD integrated graphics), the Thinkpad is the stronger laptop (better CPU and IGP), despite only having 2GB RAM. That's not too surprising considering it costs $100 more. However, both will play MapleStory just fine, so you're probably better off getting the Gateway.

I'm telling you stay away from AMD with laptops. Not a good Ideal since that phenom 2 X2 idles in my friend's gateway desktop @ 44C

edit: and I think the clock on it is 2.66

That laptop is worse than either the Gateway or the ThinkPad.

When he says "it idles at 44C", he means that when the laptop is on with windows loaded and is not doing anything else, the CPU temp is at 44C. Idle is when the CPU doesn't have to do anything more than background tasks so it's using around 1% of it's power and should, in theory, be producing the least heat. The opposite is "load", when the CPU is using over 80% of it's power constantly, and will prolly be in the region of 60-70C.

Both are expensive for me. I think I will buy the gateway its not a bad laptop plus its cheep.
