I may be getting a 3ds soon and am just wondering what the best flashcart available for the 3ds even that will be able to handle my wood r4 saves. I dont mind using a convertor if its reliable. What are your guys preferences and thoughts?

Wood saves are in either .sav or .nds.sav form right? If you have .sav saves, I'd say use an Acekard2i.

You can change the save extension on both wood and akaio. So both of them aren't a problem.

You can change the save extensions on a computer, yes. Although I wonder... can you take a .nds.sav file and create a .nds.sav.bak file with Wood>change the save preferences to .sav>and subsequently create a .sav file from the .nds.sav.bak file? hmmm, ...sorry, off topic.

AKAIO and wood are based off the same SDK. Quite a lot of the functions are present on both. AKAIO also has the capability to chose which save extension (.sav or .nds.sav) to use. It can also back-up up to 10 slots (or 9 or 11, I don't know). Please do your homework before spewing nonsense.

Both of them have great compatibility and the teams are still actively supporting their carts. Firmware updates are released fairly quickly to counter dsi/3ds firmware updates.

Not necessary, bro. Just wondering out loud if .nds.sav to .sav conversion was possible with a cart without a comp. Op never stated what format the save files were in.

Yeah, but he didn't have to since both carts supports both .sav and .nds.sav as well as (due to the fact that they're made from the same SDK) the saving size being the same. There's no need of a comp or converting anywhere.

so a flashcard that works with the wood saves would be the acekard 2i? If so, Ive been reading about doing updates, that you have to have a second ds? If thats the case will an original phat ds work?

You don't need a second DS unless the DSi/3DS you're using is MORE updated than the flash cart. If that is the case then you will need a DS or DS Lite, but if not then no.
