A brick means you either done physical damage to said device or inadvertently overwritten/corrupted/erased critical code, bios,bootloaders, internal intergrated circuit damage
Such damage results in the hardware no longer functioning, it is now as useful as a brick
Depending on the the nature of the brick and if the hardware has access or is configured in such a way one can unbrick it with proper resources
