I used dios mios for loading gamecube games on my wii. And i have this dmtoolbox app that you're supposed to use to load it on your usb, but what does it actually do? It just seems to only rename the folder as the game ID and then change the iso name to "game" or "disc2" depending on the game. So what's it point?

DMToolbox is used to shrink GC game images. Basically, taking out garbage data so they have a smaller size.

GameCube games were stored in Mini-DVDs, which have a size of around 1.4GB, but many of the games themselves weight much less. Games such as Luigi's Mansion or Wario World use less than a quarter of the total space, and games such as Animal Crossing take even less.

Shrinking games saves up space, which lets you put more games in your device. Not every game works when shrunk, but the vast majority do.

In the compatibility list here in GBAtemp you can check the few games don't work with this, and show you the final size of the many that work well when the garbage data is removed. As you mention, it also places the resulting game image in the correct folder of your device with the correct name for its use with Nintendont; it's useful.

Thanks man.
On the list it says Prime 1 doesn't work but my file is shrunk on nintendont and it seems to work fine. But i only checked the impact crater, to be fair, and not the whole game.

Maybe something changed with updates? Other stuff like forcing 480P or Widescreen also changed over time for some games, although that's a rather different matter. Usually if a game doesn't work with a shrunken image, it just doesn't boot or crashes very early on. Keep trying it and see if it fully works.
