I've seen some pretty cool stuff like people editing the screen size, darkness level, colors and even changing the ghosting level. Changing button layouts and removing filters would be awesome. But what are the limitations? I'd really like to dig deeper lol

SNES games with enhancement chips might not work. Some, such as DSP1 obviously work since Super Mario Kart is in the eShop. Others, such as SA1, were never programmed in because it's believed the N3DS isn't powerful enough for them (Though, if a 400 MHz DS2 can play Super Mario RPG at half speed, you'd think and 800 MHz N3DS could play it at fullspeed.

I don't mean limitations it that way lol. VC editing is what I'm talking about, not injection. I'm wondering what the limitations are of changing various values to adjust screen size colorization or even screen filters. Basically the whole VC emulator is contained within a download VC .cia so I want to know how far you can change and tweak it

Notice that most of the VC editing works by using original VC games as a base. On PC-Engine VC for example, you can't convert games that are more heavier than the original PC-Engine VC games.

At this point the most "customizeable" VC is GBA since, thanks to newer programs, you can erase the dark filter and 'ghosting'.

Yeah i know that you have use the original games as a base. Yeah GBA editing is pretty good and I'm sure you can edit screen sizes as well. Gbc games can be edited in a similar way. I just want to get rid of the ugly screen filters. I see a lot of potential in this because Nintendo's emulators run games so much better then homebrew ones.

Yeah I already use that. I've even extracted the ROMFS and edited the config.ini file. I'm really wonder if there is more to it then that. Maybe a way to edit the actual emulator itself, not just how the specified game is output

Well, beyond that we may speaking about console VC modification since how the games are being displayed (at the most part) lies on the console itself. I may be wrong of course, but i think this is how it works.

Other workaround would using the BlargSNES injection logic and replace the console's VC.

Now that seems more on track lol I wonder how far you can go with that. How did they do that with BlargSNES anyway?

Is like those roms-to-Cia converters (as the one i linked), but instead the roms are linked to Blargsnes. So, if you execute the snes game, the console will execute Blargsnes instead of using the system's default VC.

But this workaround would require to have homebrew emulators and no one will bother with that if we have VC.

That's true but VC is ugly as hell even if they run really well. That's why I wish we could remove the filters and maybe edit button layouts. I wonder if you could link GBC games to gambatte?
