Looks like this is some kind of filter for AdChoices, you can choose what you see.

Unless things have changed since last year this is incorrect. Last year I was browsing for costs of membership of the English Heritage. Decided it was just slightly too expensive for the use that I'd have gotten out of it so gave up on the idea. Came to browse the temp and the first advertisement I saw was one offering a 30% discount on English Heritage membership

Yeah, I am incorrect. Google removed their AdChoices program a while ago and now only has AdSense, which has everything including Ad Tracking (a.k.a. stalking). So yeah, the Temp does show you 'relevant ads' so @dAVID_ you've been looking at some not-so-good stuff.

Google ads that you get here are 45% based on your search and browsing history, 45% based on the page content, 10% based on "other" (dread the "other" more than all else). Well they're targeting the right demographic right?

It's based on searches you done on Google or in Chrome. It doesn't necessary mean you searched on gay and cruise. It can be all kind of weird things.
Plus, if you browse adult sites... there is a reason for the incognito mode ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
