Wanna watch YouTube on your PSVita? Here is how you can do it

So you want to watch YouTube videos on your PSVita? Yes, you can do that, and no, you don't have to wait for Sony to release a dedicated YouTube app. All you need to do is to "exactly" follow the steps below and you'll be good to go :

Step 1 - From the PSVita's web browser, go to the following address : http://www.oretube.b...g-entry-75.html

Step 2 - The page will load, and you can see "PSVitaTubeDownloader", press and hold on that link till "Open" pops out, then click on "Open"

Step 3 - Touch the ... icon to add a bookmark, you can change the name of the new bookmark to something like "PSVita YouTube Downloader" , just don't change the address.

Step 4 - open a YouTube video via the web browser, through YouTube.com, ignore the warning about the lack of Flash Player and HTML5

Step 5 - Touch the heart icon to go to the saved bookmarks screen, and touch the bookmark you just saved

Step 6 - You'll notice the newly added "Download" option, touch the desired video resolution.

Step 7 - The video download screen will appear, touch the Save button to start downloading the video

Step 8 - Wait for the download to finish, and you can watch the video via the Videos app.

Step 9 - Now that you have the bookmark saved, you can repeat steps 4 - 8 in order to download more YouTube videos onto your PSVita.

How handhelds released anno 2011-2012 don't support Youtube natively in their native browser is beyond me.
How people think handhelds should support Youtube and not actually play the games is beyond me

If you're going to make it to be a handheld media player. Such as the psp. And it has an internet browser, I don't see why you wouldn't add youtube compatability to the device.

Where did he say he wanted it to "not actually play the games"? Obviously he wants the device to actually play the games. He is saying that the browser should be of a standard that supports Youtube, which is a perfectly valid point. Stop trolling.

If your paying $350 in Australia for a 3G model like I did you want the functionality that any 3G device should have.

I know what he is saying but it doesn't have to have YouTube support.
Trolling? Really? Wow. Does anything count as trolling now? I guess you're trolling.

consoles, especially handhelds, specialise in not being everything you want.

I agree it is pathetic these devices do not support mainstream software.

Every company is too busy trying to give it all themselves, and failing. they should help each other out, it can only benifit EVERYONE.
@prowler I do not think he wants a console that cant play games. that is just plain stupid. he has a massively valid point.

QFT.
And like Zerosuit connor says, if you pay so much money for a top-notch handheld with all these different kind of features and functions, you're pretty pissed when it doesn't support fucking Youtube.

Guys, this is the wrong place to complain about the lack of a proper YouTube support, you should contact Sony for that if you want, this is about a method to go around that limitation, go give it a try if you like, and if you don't, just ignore it and watch YouTube videos on some other device ...

I don't really see the reason for going to all the trouble with Flash to make Youtube work. Well out of the box anyways. At least the downloader works :)

ps. Flash is f'd up if you're trying to keep a browser fast and not consume the whole battery in a few minutes. I'd rather have it with full support for HTML5 :3

Not exactly news but I can see why you posted it here.
I didn't even realise the PS VIta was lacking in Youtube support, for a system that capable? Not acceptable, they're trying to compete with smartphones dammit.

That being said this isn't a great solution. You're only downloading the video to the PS Vita's storage, a helpful option but the usefulness of Youtube is being able to stream a video right away, and move onto the next.

No doubt there will be an app released in the future, but for now this is a bit of a workaround. The HTML5 in the browser should be capable of playing the video, I would have assumed it was until I read this post. Maybe that too will work in a future update.

I know. It's a serious disappointment too, even the Wii's browser has YouTube support. Maybe more hardware companies should rely on companies like Mozilla, Opera, and Google to make their console/handheld browsers not crappy.
