Video shows OLED Nintendo Switch using HWFLY SX clone modchip, can boot Hekate

Now that the OLED Nintendo Switch has launched, eager fans are playing games on the new revision of the popular game console, and others are opening the system up to see what possible exploits can be performed. A new YouTube video has been uploaded, showing someone who has gotten their hands on an OLED Switch, done a teardown, and installed the HWFLY modchip onto it. The HWFLY is a newer chip that is a clone of Team Xecuter's SX Core modchip. In this video, we can see the OLED Switch, after a little bit of fiddling, turn on and go right into the Hekate bootloader. Once he does that, however, the touch screen no longer functions. While it's not totally flawless, it looks like it is very possible for homebrew to potentially run on the OLED Switch model in the near future.

It was only a matter of time. Even if the form factor is not directly compatible, nothing is preventing someone crazy enough from manually soldering wires to all the correct points.
I expect that updating homebrew to work should not be much trouble as the hardware is largely unchanged this time around.

One would think after Nintendo made the mistake of using the same bootrom for all their 3DS systems, they wouldn’t make that kind of mistake again. But here we are with multiple versions of the Switch, all having similar enough hardware as to be exploited with the same mod chips. I am willing to bet exploits (outside of RCM exploit in the older systems,) are going to keep being the same

Wow, hopefully the prices aren't too crazy (I already have 3 Switches). Wonder if it will beat my Samsung S7+ with an ipega streaming switch games lol

Oh wow... How could they possibly allow this? How didn't they think of patching or atleast make it so it don't work?
They produce the same SoC for the redbox / lite switch.
If they cared, you would've seen those models fixed months ago.
The SoCs come from the same fab, so Nintendo just uses it for all produced models.

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

@BigOnYa, Then i think people were talking about fallout 76
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    that one was buggy too
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
