Video Part Remover Thingy Needed

I need to cut out a part of a video. I tried Windows Movie Maker and when I split it into 2, the second part lost it's video and only had audio. I think it was because it was a DivX video because it has worked before.

So I need a Video Part Remover Thingy that works with DivX or FLV files. (I only want to remove a few seconds, not delete everything after it too)

Some of the stuff intended for advert removal would work great here so I will suggest that before something like avisynth.
