Hacking VC Region Free Converter freethewads

I was reading about freethewads.exe and how it changes the region of VC WADS ...

I cannot find a dload link to test. Anyone know if this is legit?

So it's save to use a ntsc n64 rom, inject into ntsc sin and punishment wad, run freethewads over the result wad and then install it on a pal wii?

I run it like this:

freethewads whatever.wad

but gives an error: "cannot open file freethewads" ... as if I didnt put whatever.wad in the command! Odd.

you must set it in c:\Documents and Settings\...\freethewads title.wad poopie (poopie is for choosing the region)

For NTSC-U -> NTSC-J vc conversion, freethewads works very well!!

I tried it on PAL F-Zero X (to convert it into NTSC). It made it so it would actually work, but the display was funky (cut off screen, tearing, ghosting, etc.). Playable, just weird looking at times.

I was just about to say that. The sound is also scratchy.

Why wouls you want to convert PAL F-Zero X to NTSC anyway? I mean, it runs slower, is 50 Hz only, and has exact the same content.

because there is only a PAL release out there, and not a NTSC one. I mean its in the real vc shop, but not out on teh interwebz

I'm getting the same error. It installs the title, then the very next step it gives me an (error RET -2011).

Can someone please help the Japanese system owners? We get to play nothing except for ping pong and Dr. Mario.
