Shiny pokemon appear too frequently with the shiny unlocker, and I don't seem to be able to keep their shiny status after being caught... what's up with that?
I know I was just pointing out other presumably unintentional effects the patch seems to have. Unless removing shiny lock is supposed to make every trainer have all shinies/guarantee previously locked mons will now be 100% shiny. I haven't noticed whether they lose their shiny though yet
I also haven't tried it myself yet because I'm no fan of shinies lol. This may be a bug or no?

I assume it's a bug. I think the intention is simply to remove the limit for what pokemon can be shiny and allow it by chance naturally (1/4096 or whatever odds you set it to with a plugin/other patch) rather than removing the limits but ensuring a 100% chance. Pretty sure it's not supposed to alter the likelihood just make it possible.

Issues with the scripted Ultra Beast fight at the Aether Paradise.
- Catch Trainers' Pokemon crashes immediately.
- No outlines causes a ton of visual glitches.
EDIT:
Here have some screenshots of the second issue:

Ugh, there's always a caveat for good stuff.

Hmmm weird, I'll try to look into it, for me, Tapus kept their shininess, I thought I removed shiny lock yet it made them to have shininess indefinitely. :wtf:

That means it have some time to fix its coding.

I have to report about Shiny lock removal on some certain pokemon like Totem gifts, Mascot legendaries and Tapus, are fixed. I change the byte to 01, now it works without having shininess 100% all time.

my apologies for some oversight, since I combined both Shiny always and Shiny lock removal for testing, but didn't realize that byte (03 or 02) in Shiny lock removal patch provides 100% shininess. X.X

Will update the zip file for a moment...

It's fixed, go to my previous reply to grab the fixed version: Fixed shiny removal ips patch

you have to use US version patch, are you sure you didn't use the same patch for both game?
I have both in the same directory, "luma/titles/"game title id". Both of them are named code.ips, i'm wrong with something?

idk what you are doing.
but here is the right way:
UM folder 1b51 one: code.ips (UM Version)
US folder 1b50 one: code.ips (US Version)
that's it. no more than 1 ips in the same game titleid folder.

I've tested it again, the Ultramoon works perfect, the Ultrasun freeze the video

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
