there's no limit.

if the loader doesn't list the game, it can be few possibilities:
1. if you copied manually to the hdd, the filename is maybe wrong, or not in the correct folder or foldername, etc.
2. maybe you have favorite mode enabled and that game is not rated (disable the star icon in the top menu)
3. maybe you have categories set to display only certain games, be sure the "all" in the top of the category list from the top menu is correctly set to the check mark (not the cross).
top menu > categories > All : Check mark
4. maybe the loader is locked, and parental level is active. disable the lock icon on the top menu
maybe other things I don't think right now.

It shouldn't happen anymore, but some hard drive have the "sleep timer" set very low and stop the drive after few seconds of innactivity.
the Wii is not designed to reinit the game access (as it's supposed to be located on a disc, not on usb), so the USB is never wake up and the game freeze because it miss the required data.

Check with your manufacturer's hdd, there's probably a tool to disable the sleep timer.
Western digital and seagate have one, other models/brand should have it too.

ok, so i took off the timer and the games are still freezing. I have a 1TB my passport ultra, which i hid through ustealth, wii u at 5.5.1, usb loader at 3.0 rev.1260, my games are in wbfs format and are from different sources...is there anything else i need to get this to run properly?

What revision of the loader are you using? Any recent one should only require that "Block IOS Reload" be turned on.

You said it freeze after few minutes, so it's not a cIOS or setting issue.
usually, it's the timer, but you disabled it.
I don't see what it could be, sorry.

What I suggest is try different things to narrow the possibilities :
- disable uStealth
- try another device
- try a difference cIOS version (but if I remember you already tried)
try different hardware (another wii if you can, another wiimote, etc.)
That's only random suggestion, I don't have a specific information to provide, sorry.

I use usb loader gx 3.0 rev 1180. The latest version is not working for me , it's doesn't start. I try to block ios reload but i get black screen then back to hombrew channel. I get the problems when i install some wad with multi mod manager like one of the tutorials said. But things get worse. Is it possible to restore nand with bootmii installed on ios?

okay so i have a new problem my wii is having trouble connecting to the internet, i checked the settings and there still set up right, and i even reset the router. i keep checking the settings but it goes back and forth between testing successfully and not cnnecting at all. this wouldn't be a problem but it seems that to get cheats to work on usb loader it wants me to download cheat files but it wont connect. i have the .gct file in the cheats folder. and the codes that do work (the ones i had set up before all my problems started.) show up as gibbrish so i dont know what to turn on...

I can't find anything too obvious for this question out of my search, sorry if I'm just missing it.

Anyways I got my Wii hacked, got USB loader GX installed, I even went and got clean rip installed. The problem is, I don't own a PC so I believe this is where I'm screwed, but I have the backup of the game, even went and dl'd a copy off the net...is there a way to play without converting to wbfs? Or maybe, and I doubt it, a converter I can use on my android?

*Edit*
If someone could delete this post, I'm reposting it in the newbie section.

Just copy the discs with the loader.

If you have the disc, launch USBLoaderGX and insert the disc. it will prompt "launch or install", select install and it will copy the game directly to wbfs format (keeping only the game data)
if you have the ISO, you can keep that format but you'll need a NTFS or Ext2, Ext3 or Ext4 to be able to copy the ISO as the file is always 4.7GB (too big for FAT32)

You can try to use someone else's PC ?
if it's windows, use Wii Backup Manager : http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html
if it's Mac, use Wii Backup Fusion : https://sourceforge.net/projects/wiibafu/
Linux/Mac/windows can also use Wit (command line tool) : http://wit.wiimm.de/

For Western Digital, the application is called WD Quick Formatter. It can be found here for Windows and Mac along with instructions: http://support.wdc.com/KnowledgeBase/answer.aspx?ID=3868

You want to use the "XP Compatible" configuration to enable 4096 byte sectors.

WDquickformat.jpg

This XP Compatible button won't show up here at all.
I've got a WD My Passport Ultra 4 TB. I have no clue with which tool I could format it to a big continuous FAT32 MBR partition.
Would you mind sharing your (obviously) older version of that tool with me?
Or does anyone else have a tool to do what I want?

When I used it on both my drives I don't believe it gave me the option either for XP compatible, I'm using windows 10.

Just click on the format option and that will take care of it. I used it without any issues to change two of my WD 8TB MyBooks from GPT to MBR. I use one as my main drive and the second as a backup incase something goes wrong. Both play Wii & GC perfectly.

I can only format my drive without any options. And after the long process I end up with a 4 TB NTFS partition. Not what I wanted.

Correct, WD Quick Drive Format is really only meant to break the GPT partition format and make it MBR.

You should be able to check to verify it's now MBR. I use EaseUS Partition Master http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html.

Now use Fat32 GUI Formatter to format it as FAT32 with 32k clusters http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm. They have both 32 & 64 bit versions available.

After that you should be good to go...

Thank you very much, I'll try this! :)

@lordelan I've tried to take that above mentioned post from when I first did it and make it a bit simpler to show what worked without going through all the other stuff that didn't. Hopefully this helps you and maybe others:

*The Issue: [SOLVED] How can I use my 8TB (or larger) GTP WD HDD on my Wii as one full drive without partioning it into two or more smaller drives? [SOLVED]
--This includes converting the GPT partition to MBR.
--Then I will also need to format the entire drive as FAT32.
--2019-05-15 Update: Also now working is my WD 4TB Passport & my WD 10TB MyBook. Additional steps for these updated below.
--2020-05-28 Update: My current go-to drive is the WD 4TB Passport with a Y-Cable. 99% of the Wii games and 100% of GameCube games will fit onto a 4TB hard drive. I used only one version of a game if multiples were available to get them all onto the 4TB drive and when I ran out of room I deleted most singing games to make room for the rest of the games to fit (no one wants to hear me sing, not even myself, so those were an easy choice to delete as needed).
--2020-10-28 Update: My New current go-to drive is the WD 5TB Black Game Drive. 100% of the US Wii & GameCube titles fit on it along with their differing versions as well as the PAL titles that were not released in the US and also a lot of JA titles (even though I can not understand most of them) with room to spare.

My Wii: Original (not a Wii U)

1-Using EaseUS Partition Master I checked the stock 8TB drive info: NTFS / 512bp sector / 4096bp cluster / GPT
---Link: http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html
---**Also, very important, if there are any other partitions showing, i.e. unallocated or hidden or marked with an ASTERIX or ??, merge any and all into the main partition so there is just one partition showing.

2a-Edit: Change GPT drive to MBR (if it's 2TB or less)
---You can use the PAID version or EaseUS Partition Master, see the 3rd picture below in item 9
---My free version did not have this option but my paid version does since v12 and up
---Changing my WD drives above 2TB would not work using this, it has the 2TB conversion limit, so I have had to go with step 2b

2b-Change the drive partition table from GPT drive to MBR (if it's larger than 2TB): Using WD Quick Format
---Note: Not sure if this will work on a hard drive that's not made by Western Digital, it scans for compatible drives automatically, you might have to search your drive makers tools for something similar
---WD Quick Format Link: http://support.wdc.com/KnowledgeBase/answer.aspx?ID=3868
---Used to convert a larger than 2TB HDD to be Windows XP compatible
---This is the important part: In doing this conversion it will format the drive to one single NTFS partition (however large the drive is) and in the process changes the partition table from GPT to MBR
---I'm on Windows 10, maybe it makes a difference what OS you arer on when you run it
---It never gave me the option for XP Compatible like the instruction said, no options at all, so I just pressed FORMAT DRIVE and it worked on my 8TB MyBook
---Update: Using this on my 4TB Passport & 5TB P-10 Black Game Drive I received an error about no recognizable file system on the drive, just clicked ok and let the format finish. Took several minutes but it did finish so give it time
---This is important: Without using WD Quick Format on my 8TB (or 4TB) first, FAT32GUI will throw an error and not allow the drive to be formatted

3-Loading the 8TB drive under EaseUS Partition Master showed it is now NTFS / 4096bp sector / 4096bp cluster / MBR
---While in EaseUS Partition Master I set the drive as PRIMARY and ACTIVE. Some have said this is not necessary, but I don't think it hurts anything to have it this way
---My version of EaseUS would not let me format the drive as FAT32 with 32k or 64k, nothing lower than 128k was an option

4a-Using FAT32 GUI Formatter I formatted it to 64k clusters: Gives me the full 8TB to play with :)
---32-bit Link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akr7GOOfRVh8g7knYUDd6gLYFAc50A?e=L3aAxX
---64-bit Link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akr7GOOfRVh8gvBWQvn3BwTnTDyE-w?e=1XJ2eA
---If using a 4TB drive you'll want to choose 32k clusters (Allocation Unit Size: 32768)
---If using a 5TB to 8TB drive with 32k clusters, only 4TB of it will show up and be usable
---So for a 5TB to 8TB HDD you'll need to choose 64k clusters to get the entire drive to show up (Allocation Unit Size: 65536)

4b-Edit 2019/05/14: I was able to get a 10TB Western digital MyBook to work. Using the steps above worked until formatting it with FAT32GUI Formatter
---Formatting the 10TB with FAT32GIU Formatter with 64k clusters gave me some conflicting information
---Windows 10 showed the drive as 1.09TB but EaseUS Partition Master showed the correct 10TB drive information
---I didn't want to take the chance using a drive that wasn't showing up properly so I reformatted it to FAT32 using EaseUS Partion Master with 256k clusters, the only size offered by my version
---Bottom line, it's working. I can play Wii & GameCube's off it using all 3 backup loaders: Cfg USB Loader, USBLoaderGX & WiiFlow Lite
---For a 10TB HDD you'll want to choose the 256k cluster size.

5-Using EaseUS Partition Master to check the 8TB drive info: It's shows as MBR and under properties some information I don't claim to understand
---See 1st picture below in item 9

6-Drive is now one single 8TB partition: FAT32 / 4096bp sector / 65536bp (64k) cluster / MBR / Set as ACTIVE & PRIMARY
---See 2nd picture below in item 9

7-Enjoying the use of the 8TB HDD to play Wii & GC using:
---My Wii: NTSC Wii (original Wii, not Wii U)

---Version #'s currently in use updated: 2019-05-21
---CFG USB Loader v71beta51t3
---USB Loader GX v3.0rev1271
---WiiFlow Lite v5.3.0beta6
---Nintendont v5.486MMMOD
---All loaders set to use IOS249[57] D2X v8-final

---Modded with ModMii, Link: http://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/
---CFG USB Loader Link: https://gbatemp.net/threads/configurable-usb-loader.147638/

8-Thanks @element6, @GreyWolf, @Elliander, @XFlak & many others I probably have missed for help getting to this point

9-Here are pictures showing the status of Drive E as 8TB & MBR as one partition, the final drive format status of my 8TB HDD & the EaseUS paid version option to "Convert GPT to MBR", but only works for drives 2TB or less:

THANKS!
I went through all your steps with my 4 TB drive and it ended up now as a big FAT32 MBR partition with status active and type primary according to EaseUS. Unfortunately I can only try it out on my Wii U tomorrow but I guess it'll work! :) You deserve some cookies!

I don't know wether this, the definite vWii guide or a Savegame Manager GX thread would be the right place to post this but I've got a question regarding savegames in the emunand.
Clutz450 already helped me (via private messages) setting up my vWii perfectly.
However. I only did this with a small drive and wasn't playing Wii games at all on my Wii U because I spent all my time playing Wii U games. :D :P
But now that I've got that 4 TB drive (instead of the 250 GB drive I used before) I have enough storage for all my Wii and GC games so I wanna set up my vWii "perfectly" again and even more perfect. :D

On my real Wii I dumped the nand to an emunand on USB and set emunand usage to "partial" so Miis are used from my real nand and savegames are used from my USB emunand.
Now that new external drive I want to connect it to the Wii U and use vWii's USB Loader GX to dump my vWii nand to USB again, copy over my wbfs folder from my real Wii drive but use my old Wii savegames from my old real wii USB drive emunand.
To my surprise I can continue my savegames when I connect my real Wii USB drive to the Wii U.
That means the vWii USB Loader GX "accepts" my old real Wii emunand in case of the savegames.
However: Of course I want to do a "clean" vWii nand dump as I want to use it for other things than savegames as well (like WiiWare/VC).

Long story short... my question is: Can I dump my vWii to USB and copy over nothing but my old Wii emunand's savegames and continue them on my vWii although I haven't created savegames for them there?
Example: On my real Wii I played NSMBW and beat world 1. I dumped it to emunand, set USB Loader GX to use it partial (so the savegame is used from USB from now on) and beat world 2.
Now I'm connecting a fresh drive to my Wii U/vWii where I never played NSMBW before (so there's no savegame at all), dump vWii nand to USB, copy over my old emunand's NSMBW savegame and continue with world 3?

Reason I'm asking is that I remember Savegame Manager GX giving me warnings about importing savegames for games that don't already have a savegame started.
