Hardware USB HDD Question (Y-Cord/Cable USB)

Hi guys. For my Wii U, I have I think a Western Digital "My Passport" USB HDD drive that is connected to a Y-Cable USB cord. One USB on the Y-cord is for data, other is for power. Both USB ends on Y-cord are plugged into back USB ports on my Wii U. Thing is, I also have a USB HDD for my PS4, but that one does not have the Y-Cord/Cable. I have not had any issues with the PS4 USB HDD. Does anyone know or think I also need a Y-Cord/Cable for my PS4 USB HDD? If it matters, I have a standard PS4, not a PS4 Pro. Thoughts and help appreciated

Why not literally just try it, if it doesn't read with the single cable, swap the cable from the wii u HDD and see if that works. You'll have your answer within a minute.

People these days, smh. Back in day you simply tried it yourself and saw how it goes. Only when you had a really really big problem one would come to forums.

Ranting aside, I think it would do fine. WiiU demands more power for a reason. I have PS4 myself and a WD HDD connects just fine with only one port.
