Upscale Resolution of old DS games on 3ds

Could the 3ds theoretically handle upscaled textures by 2x? If so how would I do it.

Unlikely, as the 3DS has DS hardware in it that runs the games just like a real DS. Sono’s TWPatch lets you change the way the image gets stretched to the 3DS’s larger screen, but this won’t actually render it at higher resolution or with better textures.

I mean ds games upscaled by 2x

3ds display isn't a x2 multiple of ds display. So it's not possible. I think it's 1.5, thus it can only do blurry upscaling

Even worse - it's 1.25x, apart from the width of the top screen, which is just over 1.5x (unless you can get 800px mode working).
[DS: 256x192; 3DS: 400x240, 320x240]
