Okay so I’m very sorry if there’s a thread already answering this but i have had a look and nothing’s come up. So I picked up my 3ds after about a year of switchbrewing to play some animal crossing with friends. However it wouldn’t let me use online without the error “to use this service a system update is required” I’m currently on 11.6.0-39E, the latest stable version of Luma and I have b9s like it was a year ago (not sure if anything’s changed). I was wondering if there was a work around or if I’d have to do a safe way of upgrading? It would be really appreciated if someone could help out, thanks in advanced :)

Technically yeush and literally yeah.

Are your friends on 11.9?

Either way, you'll eventually end up needing to either update normally (if you aren't blocked)
or
update the nver (maybe cver files, too?) files to think you're on the "latest FW".

See what you can do with the easy (normal update) method first.

Yea I’m pretty sure they are as they don’t like hacking their consoles. And just double checking, by normal update I’m presuming you mean remove all cfw and then update and reinstall?? I’ll probably try updating my b9s first and then try updating.

If you have Luma 9.1, just update your system normally.
If it says failed to apply 1 firm patch, then you did not have luma 9.1. Just redownload 9.1's boot.firm and put it on your SD card.
