I can assure you that it does work. I don't use RxTools tough, I use "Rom editing made easiest over 7.0" (you can find it on youtube). The compiling part works, but if you're not editing a pokemon game, it can be an hassle to make the rsf.

I have the rom Pokemon Y successfully decrypted with rxtool, I'm now stuck with the damn 0xc000007b error when extracting with hackingToolkit.bat, according to the program dependency walker says; At least one file was not a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows module, please help me

In the "edit your game part", I would leave a link to pk3DS for pokemon, and maybe a link to ohona aswell
so people know what exactly to use to edit the game files.

Ok, so sorry for the double post first

firstly, the offline method with xorpad generation seems to mess up something. not exactly sure what, but I tried several times, still cant get to run the game without update when using that method.

However, using the online/rxtools method, games seem to run fine without update.

not exactly sure what the cause is. Maybe someone else has mentioned it already

What advantages/disadvantages does this have when you are running a fresh/vanilla ROM?
Is it recommended for playing with an unmodified ROM without an update?

Or the sole purpose of doing this is to play hacked ROMs?

Game updates replace modifications(some).
So things edited in the rom wont show up in the game.
