I'm fairly new to custom Android ROMs and using custom recoveries, and I seem to be having trouble installing Magisk on my old N7000. My Note has an unofficial "Nightowl" version (whatever that means) of CM13 installed with Android 6.0.1. The custom recovery I have is ClockWork Mod 6.0.5.1 (PhilZ Touch 6.59.0).

I've been told to install Magisk I have to go into developer settings, have root enabled for apps, install SuperSU, fully unroot the phone from SuperSU's settings and then go back to CWM and install Magisk and Magisk's SuperSU zips from there. Whenever I do this my phone sticks at the Samsung screen with a warning symbol, instead of showing the screen with the warning symbol and then go to the Nightowl boot screen a few seconds after. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or missing out from here? I would really like to get Magisk working to hide root on my phone. Thanks!
