Which is better for V1 switches?

I saw a post here say that there was no point in pico fly hwfly clone in v1, but the install is really easy.

Is there any benefit to soldering a trinket instead of the pico fly?

Definitely a trinket. In contrast to the picofly, the trinket is not based on glitching and does not need "correct timing" (or however these sort of chips work) to send payloads to the console.

Seems like a harder install for the same price though. Am I right?

Trinket M0 would be easier since you can do the 4 wires method.
But pico fly is only soldering the flex cable to the capacitors on the cpu. The Emmc snaps into place and it is always insta glitches.

Cost wise how much does the microcontroller go for?

Do you have any soldering skills? If not, and you're not careful enough, you rip off these capacitors very easily.

I've done installations on every model switch.

It is not a skill issue.

How much does the trinket cost? I can only find the adafruit ones and they are nearing the cost of a picofly from Ali.

Picofly RP2040 Core. Manytimes the trinket costs more then a core.
U only had to solder the cpu flex and thats all

I'd say neither. Use the jig/payload method to boot once, then copy Hekate.bin to the "reboot_payload" on sd card, and never need the jig again (atleast till next time FW update is needed). Simply use the "reboot now" feature in homebrew menu to switch between Sysnand/Emunand. Then put switch in "Sleep" mode when not using. Just my opinion.

Keep in mind that RP2040 has the case of NAND corruption, in term of chip quality for Hwfly lines of chips hwfly v4 (mv1-7.1/7.2) with QFN fpga chip = Instinct NX (v6) > picofly/rp2040 >>>> v5 with BGA fpga chip
I thought that was due to poor installation. I can't find anything on established installers corrupting nands by doing proper installs. I wouldn't be happy if I did a perfect installation only to be met by a black screen or blue screen.

It has to do with the quality of the chip, Hwfly V4 use to cost like $100, if you don't want to deal with the chance of the NAND bricking and you have a V1 unpatched then go with a Trinket M0, I had a Trinket M0 from October 2018 and it still work fine.

I have on both of my consoles a trinket installed (since around 2019 or so) and since today no problem. Nand corruption (or bricking) is nearly impossible with a trinket I would say because it is "just a payload pusher".

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."
