I don't really care about pokemon remakes, but give me a portable traditional Pokemon Game that's FINALLY IN FULL F*CKING 3D and I'd be happy. Seriously, the DS ones could've been as cool-looking as pokemon stadium AT LEAST. But no, sprites.

Not saying I disagree with the overhype-ness of OoT though. Like a shitload of others, I'm picking the game up, but I ain't sitting here counting the days and go batshit crazy once it's released, but I am excited, regardless.
I wouldn't say 95%. A large percent are mainstream gamers who have no taste in games, think Zelda is "for kids" exclusively and make up a big part of the gaming market. Sadly.

Honestly who cares? The games were good and its better than nothing. Zelda 64 with updated visuals, Master Quest, Boss Replays, etc all on a portable and 3D to boot! How can you wrong with that???

SOME people are actually tired of playing that game for the, what... EIGHTH time being released?

You, CCNaru, if you have not played Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, a sweet remake is coming to the DS soon. I know it's a remake, but if you haven't played it it's worth a shot! It'll all be new to you that way.

And anyone with half a brain will tell you that the port for the Gamecube that came from ordering Wind Waker was terrible, running at horrible frame rates and having clunky controls. The Wii VC version sucks too, a remake was more in order then it was porting a game that was poorly optimized in the first place.

I'm replaying OoT on VC and it's not bad at all. It's not slow, the controls are solid, nothing's wrong with it.

I'm obviously trolling.
I don't like rpg's so zelda isn't my bag.
You like it that's fine. Don't tell me I'm looking forward to it more than starfox.
In my view it's the better game, sucks it's getting no press whereas zeldo gets re-released for the thousandth time and it's all over the place.
Right, because games with free roaming and open end combat are RPG games...You obviously need to go find out what a real RPG game is. And Ocarina of Time was limited for Wind Waker pre-orders and that version wound up being terrible, it was a poorly done port that I think Nintendo even admitted to, and the VC version was bound to happen in the end as well, they would have been stupid not to put it up for purchase.

Remake =/= original by any stretch.

And Star Fox will be exactly like the SNES and N64 versions which were essentially identical in most aspects, just with slightly better graphics and maybe online play.

I've never bought a console on release day so I couldn't care less about what the new consoles have had in the past... even PS3 which had the "HAS NO GAEMS" phrase for a long time after its release had some interesting titles.

and honestly ports are just like remakes... in fact it's even worse i'd figure.

also not saying zelda oot was too hyped or anything... that's on my list #2 after SMT. never got to play it, actually.

DSGamer what the HELL are you talking about? >_> The GC version (running OoT and MQ on an emulator from the disc) runs BETTER and less laggy than the original, as well as touching up the graphics and having a DECENT ANALOG STICK LOL.

Anybody who has ACTUALLY played the two and compared them side by side would know that. I dunno why you're hating on the GC version.

If you don't want to play the same game again, that's your choice, don't play it. There are thousands of people with legitimate interest in remakes like these and they sell, that's why Nintendo keeps pushing em out. If nobody was going to shell out the money for a remake then they'll stop pushing out remakes. All you can really do is NOT play it if you don't want to. But let the people who DO want to play them, play them.

Don't see this being a problem. At least were getting upgraded graphics and stuff... as opposed to say the GBA, where there were loads of straight SNES ports. But did this make the GBA bad? Of course not. If you don't want to get the remake... don't get the remake.

Like for me. Zelda 64 is an amazing game. I still have my gold cartridge proudly. But the remake really doesn't excite me too much because I don't think the 3D will add much. But Starfox (which is actually the game in my N64 right now), now that excites me, because I think the 3D is going to be really cool in it and add a lot to the experience. I'm also looking forward to MGS because I haven't played it before.

How is remakes worst than ports?

The only reason I say you're trolling is because you called Zelda an RPG. Only Zelda 2 is an RPG, the others, including Zelda 2, are Action-Adventures.
So you don't play the role of link?
There's no levels, but you can't do some stuff without leveling-up by progressing through the story.
You can buy stuff.
You can trade stuff.

Lots of rpg elements try to pad the game out to appeal to rpg players.
So, basically, everygame where you play the role of a character, you can get upgrades by progressing through the story and can buy things is an rpg.
Ok, I'm going to move Resident Evil 4 and 5 to my RPG list...

Again, I will ask, how many remakes of Zelda do we even really need? My fav one is the original NES one and I still haven't finished the GBC one (yes, gameboy color). And there's some good ones on GBA. Imho any Zelda game that is 3D is boring and rehashing more of those is futile. But then, they do sell and I guess that is all that counts. Re: Pokemon games. Same thing just about.

i'd rather have remakes than nothing at all
cuz i honestly wouldn't believe that we would get a new zelda game from nintendo in the first year, let alone 3-4 months after release
i mean, i'm even surprised that they are actually planning to release a new mario game this year, while both the ds and wii got them much later

Indeed. There's more than one I guess. I haven't played GBC roms in a long time but I own the original of this one. This game was really fun and I'm guessing it still is.

There's Link's Awakening, the DX version (which is in color and has a few more dungeons I think), and Oracle of Seasons/Ages (which have some minor differences between the two but are both awesome).
