I just found out that there is 3 different endings.
When you are supposed to send Sox through the hole, do not do it.
Go out and go to everyplace (not sure if important, but I did it) and you'll notice that everyone is talking about Sox, and you'll see Sox almost everywhere. Then, go home, up to your own room. You'll find out that Sox is in your room, though the window is closed. So, you probably get it now that there are clones of Sox. Well, now send Sox through the hole. Then you'll notice that someone is talking to you, for example:
    "Good luck, me"
    "You too, Ethan"
Or something similar like that. The anime scene at the end doesn't change though..

This game really needs a sequel in some form, mainly explaining more about the Hollow Pen such as where it came from and who made it. If you ask me, an anime based on this would also be good but it might have a bit of story differences (All animes I know that are based on games are different in a way, with Star Ocean being the one that differentiates the most).

OH, now I get it! When Ethan sends the pen to his past-self, He will create a time loop where "the past-Ethans" will go through all the trouble that you went finishing the game (rescuing mom and dad etc). But when you start the game over again, you are a "past-Ethan". When you are about to go to dinner, Sox will meow and past-Ethan will follow him, talk to Irving, Derek will rescue Kori etc.
Now, the timeloop won't appear because Ethan doesn't send the pen for his past-self. Something that I dont know is that will this thing effect the future-Ethans life?
Or is the past-Ethan and the future-Ethan the same thing, because past-Ethan can remember Irving? AND:
If Sox came from the future, does that mean that there are two Sox'es? Or where did the past-Sox go?

And yeah, this game NEEDS a sequel. It's screaming for a sequel. Anime would be cool too, with english subs or voice acting.

Sox was pulled through a time hole too, Ethan's father mentioned that, so basically he is not from ANYWHERE, like Kori when you first meet her.

As hinted, there are two Sox in the game. When it comes time to send him through the hole, Ethan sends Sox (The one that haven't came through the hole) into the past. This way, he still keeps Sox but only the one that came through the hole. As for the second alternate ending, I think it was unintentional storywise since you (The player) chose to follow Sox, in which Ethan would have actually went to dinner instead. This is why the option only appeared in the second playthrough (To give you a reason to replay the game), and when you came back to your room, the window is open and Sox is outside growling at Irving.

Timothy Kairos says Sox has been living for GENERATIONS!

I have no idea, but the same logic behind Kori shouldn't happen to Sox. This is because Kori was pulled into the future, in which she was never in the timeframe between the time she was pulled through the hole and the time she came through the hole, while Sox did exist in the past and came to the past from the future. I think this is also something that should be explained in the future because maybe Sox was pulled through a hole from the past into the future.

Something's weird on that ending where you go wandering around the town, and you see sox everywhere.
When you send the pen for your past-self, and the future-ethan says something like "(good luck, me..)"
then someone will say: "(you too, Ethan)" I think it's sox or the past-ethan OR maybe Irving? Dunno [IMG]

Wait, I thought of a few things involving the $1 million dollars example Irving gives you, where if you send $1 million back into the past, it will disappear in its new timeline at the point in time at which it was sent in its original timeline. Wouldn't that meant that the 2nd Sox (who I'm guessing is wandering around outside) should disappear at the end of the game as soon as you open up the hole to send back the original Sox with the pen attached? (Meaning no Soxes exist anymore in the current timeline) If I'm right here, then the ending FMV scene is contradictory, since it shows a Sox next to Ethan as he wakes up.

Also I guess this explains why Uncle Derek said in his letter that he would be "gone" or whatever by the time Ethan read the letter (since he would have disappeared).

Not really. The handling of time-travel in this game is very Timey Wimey Ball -- it doesn't follow any set of rules, it just works however the plot needs it to.

The biggest example: For most of the game, when someone changes time, the change kicks in 'instantly', and hits everyone completely into a totally new revised world, except for Time Hollow holders and people outside of time, right? There is no such thing as a 'partial' change; changes happen when you perform them, and not before. In other words, the fact that I will save my friend from the accident that got him out of sports (if you do it -- it's optional) doesn't cause him to be saved when I first know him. The fact that I will save the dog from the treehouse doesn't mean it's been saved initially, when the game starts. I don't have to live through the villain's changes to the timeline -- from killing my parents to everything he did in Chapter 5 -- until after he does them, when the world is suddenly revised. This all fits into one coherent view at time-travel.

But at the very end of the game, it pulls a Stable Time Loop on you. This seems satisfying at first, but when you think about it, it doesn't work with the game's established logic at all.

The problem is, just like with the dog or the ladder accident -- according to the series time-travel logic, my receiving the pen is not applied to the timeline until after I do it in the future (at which point it's applied retroactively.) In other words, a Stable Time Loop cannot happen; I can't receive the pen from myself, for the same reason that the dog wasn't saved until I did it in the present. Just like I had to live through a world where the dog wasn't saved to reach the point where I can use the pen to actually save it, you would have to live through a world where you hadn't received the pen, before you can give the pen to yourself and apply that revision to the timeline (an impossibility.) The version of me that saved the dog first lived through a world where I hadn't saved the dog; the version of me that lost my parents (and then saved them) first got to live through a world where I hadn't lost them, then had to live through a world where I hadn't saved them, until I reached the point where the necessary changes were applied. But the pen doesn't work the same way; it's applied to the timeline all along, and in fact that setup requires that it have been applied to the timeline all along. That is not possible with the way Time Hollow's time travel system has worked elsewhere. (By definition, there must be no iterations where I do not receive the pen; otherwise, I never get it. Every single iteration must have the pen arriving... but that doesn't fit with the way the game handled anything else.)

There are time-travel setups where it is possible to set up a Stable Time Loop, of course... the point is, Time Hollow is inconsistent about how its time travel works. Sometimes the things you do in the future influence the initial past you live through; sometimes they don't; and the only difference seems to be what's convenient for the plot.

Another plot hole: At the end, Derek goes back in time to save Kori. But this won't work, because the villain already went further back in time to the point of the bus accident -- in fact, initially, when you were going to send Derek back, I tried to go to that place, since obviously you have to send Derek through the earliest hole you have access to if you want him to have a fighting chance. Even if Derek saves Kori, it won't stop that version of the villain from interfering, because the villain went earlier into the past and is now outside of time for the indicated timeframe, exempt from further revisions to the timeline just like Kori was for most of the story. He can no longer use a Time Hollow, of course, so Derek might simply be able to fight him off or kill him -- but he's still had a lot of time to screw around with the timeline between the time of the bus accident and the time Derek arrives, and Derek's stupid method of arriving left him both helpless and announced his presence. The copy of the villain sent to the time of the Bus accident -- who gets to take The Slow Path back to the future -- would know, specifically, to keep an eye on Kori at that particular point, and would in fact receive a Flashback alerting him that you'd interfered with it.

Basically, I don't see any explanation for why your change to the timeline at the point when Kori falls would automatically give you primacy over the villain's schemes, not when the villain already went further back in time and gets to interfere first.

(I did like the fact that your parents had to explain everything to Derek from the start every single time you revise the timeline near the end, though.)

The ending results is that Ethan only gets one Sox instead of 2. During the course of the game, he has two Sox running around (One in town and the other one on his bed).

As for future Derek, I think he just assumed the identity of Jack Twombly (aka the "real" one) because he's now from an alternate universe since he saved Kori. This means that the universe where he came from is different than the one Kori and his past self are since Kori doesn't exist in his future. That's why past Derek and Kori are currently in Ethan's time. As for the letter, I think it means that future Derek will become known as someone else in order to avoid confusion between him and his past self. Though it is never mentioned in the game about the real Jack Twombly being Derek, I have many reasons that supports this theory.

Actually I think that those I left are actually real world names, although mostly last names. Fourier should've been especially obvious...

It's a nice game, but I'm finding it VERY EXTREMELY EASY. I cruised through to halfway through ch. 5 so far using at most IIRC 3 of my TIME units, and usually am back to full by the end as I pick up Sox just in case the game forces me to burn time somewhere, but it hasn't really so far. (Maybe it's easy from playing so many other difficult adventured games with logical puzzles as well as the unwashed hoardes with entirely assininely illogical puzzles...)

It was most hilarious in ch. 4 (3? IIRC) where the chars keep telling you that you liek tired, etc. when I had full TIME again already.

There are also a few points at which you can "solve" the puzzles in a fe fashions (usually two), but the game was designed in such a way that you always end up with just about the same result or a very minor graphical change (thinking of the present). No earth shattering variation going on here so far.

Never found anything in unlikely places yet, although I keep trying (beginning mentions something about things hiding in "unlikely" spots).

Feels like a Phoenix Wright light to me. (Only problem that I had with PW was that the engine was rigid in solutions that you couldn't force it to short-circuit to the answer even if you had all of the pieces, but had to plod through their entire pre-set solution patterns.)

Its a pretty good game, though a bit short, I also agree on making a sequel of sorts to this game. Though one thing did left me to wonder, in Chapter 5 didn't Ashley told Ethan on how Vin got his injury, and the reason on why he quit Basketball, then Ethan said to fix it after wards (which he didn't). Is this a "forgotten script" or something which has been lost in translation like the other 7 anime cutscens in the Japanese version, which never been shown in the English version.
