1: So I purchased a PS3 last week and got CFW onto it.
The console couldn't play games for more than 10 minutes without the fan going into maximum overdrive. I would always just turn the PS3 off as soon as it started, hoping to reserve as much life in it as possible.

Then I got Webman and Cobra. Best thing ever. I tinkered with the fan settings, which are now at:

Auto at (unmarked) - 76 C Lowest fan speed (unchecked) - 27%

Manual at (marked) - 55% PS2 Emulator fan speed - 40%

Games play for a looooot longer, lasting up to an hour (which is the longest i've played, so it might go for even longer ) But the system makes so much noise now because of the fan settings.

What is the minimum settings for the options that can provide a cool and healthy PS3, but also a nice and quiet experience? Will adding a cooling station (specifically the one at the bottom of this list) allow for me to turn the speed down as well?

2: Along with Webman, I got these folders - PS3, PS2, PS, PSP
Is it safe to launch games from them without starting Multiman, or immediately on boot?
It would be a lot more convenient than launching Multiman, mounting the game, and then playing it.
I just wanted to be sure.

3: Can I get Console, PSN or ID banned without even having a PSN account? Pretty nervous about this one. I likely wont be doing any online gaming in the future, but I still wanna be careful.
Thank you all! :)

Fourth extra question I forgot about: I had a 32GB USB that I used for file transferring purposes to the PS3. It I'm pretty sure was fat32, otherwise the PS3 wouldn't read it. I lost the USB, but have another exact model. I cant copy large files to it because of the 4GB limitation. Why did the other one work perfectly fine? It could hold games up to 10GB.

Is there some sort of secret way to copy files larger than 4GB to a fat32 USB? I really don't want to use the file splitting method.

Also, why does it seem that propping the PS3 up and putting a fan next to it only makes it hotter? I'm observing Webman's temperature thing, and it went up from 30 C to 50 C after trying to cool it more.

Depending on the orientation of your fan in relation to the PS3 fan(s) it might actively work against the built-in fan(s) decreasing/damaging the already existing airflow.

I'm really not trying to be rude by bumping my post, but I'd really like some info on my questions. I don't mean to come off as impatient, but I've asked questions on other posts months prior to this one, and never got any comments.

1) I just use sys fan default settings on my slim. You can ask someone else what a good fan setting to use to prevent ylod.

2) You mean launch games from XMB? Ya, its safe to launch immediately with webman.

3) If you have no ID linked to your system then you wont get banned.

You must of had NTSF but didn't know.
You can use Irisman to read from NTSF. And use it to mount and close.
And install without having to split files.

Leave it on auto, all though it's a phat, it's old and thermal paste is junk / needs to be replaced.

Yes

Typically you get both.

There is a PS3 tool that will split the files larger than 4gb for you, other option is to FTP to the internal HDD.

Requires USB to power I assume, I haven't looked that the link. But most require a USB port to power it up. Which creates more power usage, which makes the console even run hotter. Will it help, eh, better off just replacing the thermal paste.
