Found a dyson dc59 stick vac in the trash one day on my way home, it was just the motorhead, extension stick, and powered brushhead. No charger, wall mount or other brush attachments. Hooked up an adjustable dc psu to it of 26v @ 0.7a to the charger power port, no light, nothing. So after looking it up ordered a replacement battery with charger brick for $35, swapped the batteries and charged it and the vac is working fine again.

Surprised some people just throw out a $600 vacuum, would have been only a $20 fix for them, only had to take out 2 screws. I'll be keeping it for myself, alot quicker and far less cumbersome then my corded cannister vac.

Think I have one of these in my office, we don't know where the charger is, so it just sitting in the closet.

Wow. Quite the come up. I just had to replace the first part ever on my dyson. We've had it for about 6 years at this point and it's been great. It's one of the big ones with the ball on the bottom. What finally broke is the hose that connects the bottom of the vacuum with the rest of the vacuum. So it flexes real hard every time you go to use it.

I took an old Rock Band drum pedal and modded it into a foot pedal for a Sinden setup. Just a standard arcade button switch that the pedal comes down and presses. I used GPIONext to configure it as a keyboard on a Raspberry Pi using GPIO pins. Works great.

I recently modded both my 360 and my GameCube with a Pico (using PicoFlasher/RGH 3 and PicoBoot respectively)

Not like I use them much anymore, but wanted to be able to say I've hacked every single console I own :) (not counting the SNES and N64 because you can't really hack those. Still need to get flashcarts for them at some point)

Turned out my 360 disc drive stopped reading discs though so it's a good thing I don't need to use it anymore, I guess.

Some pics of the 360:

There's more pics in my blog posts about it but too many to post here I felt like.

Two DualShock 3 controllers I bought for relatively cheap arrived in great condition (no cosmetic damage), but the contacts (I guess that's what they're called) were interfering with themselves and all buttons/dpad/triggers were acting up so I just opened them up, cleaned carefully, and now they work properly.

If it were someone else? They'd probably just throw it away.

A GBA with a faulty power switch. Tried disassembling it, found it completely corroded, and then the tiny metal contact pinged off somewhere, never to be found again.

Ordered a flat 2-position switch to replace it... and got a 3-position one instead. Great.

I am nothing if not stubborn, though.

It works.

Just completed

A Sega Neptune.
An SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) 3D printed Sega Neptune shell created by DVIZIX and printed by Shapeways.
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/reface

So far it looks and feels great.
Everything fits except the cartridge flaps.
The model is made to fit a standard Genesis2 core.
A Neptune requires the removal of the flaps.

This is a conflagration of efforts. Lots of love in all of this.
My intent is to blog how to make one here on gbatemp.
There is a modular build method that fits a standard Genesis 2 shell.

I would be leary of those, as people into hacking might find the frequency. Like they DO for garages.
I was curious about that. This kit uses the OEM key fob. There are kits with their own remote. I think those are far more likely to get hijacked, but the OEM one seems a bit more proprietary.

I hate this thread. Every time I enter, I want to buy some junk of eBay and fix/mod it. Modding and fixing stuff is so therapeutic.

My £7,799.00 TV is looking good, maybe if I can smash it, I can fix and mod it. I can make it even better.

I used to fix TV’s for side cash. It’s surprisingly easy, as long as the panel isn’t smashed. Therefore, if you’re going to do this, I highly suggest you do not smash the display panel. Go for the PCB’s in the back. They’re cheap and easy to find.

I've bought a few usbc connectors, and have been upgrading some electronics charger ports to use them, so I can simplify the amount of cables.
The first was the WiiU gamepad dock. And a Bluetooth radio yesterday.
I wanted to do the same to my NintendoDS, but I don't think I can do it, as there's a few components that make the job too hard.
