The 3DS would be perfect, you could have gorgeous 3D backgrounds with gorgeous 3D sprites, and of course, multiplayer,

Umm... no.

They wouldn't transition to "3D" very well IMO.

Now if we had something along the lines of an FPS, THAT would rock. Especially watching the bullets fly toward you.

You must have never seen Muramasa in 3D .. me think eighteen posted a muramasa 3D picture somewhere on gbatemp, otherwise you can find a crosseye picture on google.. it's really GOOD in 3D

they had some motion sensing thing (like the i phone etc) where as you tilted the 3ds itmoved the background and character with it if you know what i mean, then that would be cool.

This reminds me of the sad 360/ps3/american/fps totally dominated time we are in right now. Its not like i dont like 3d games, but 90 % of the FPS games are so similiar to each other that it is only unintresting commercial products. Mostly I prefer games that are beeing done by a vision, something uniqe, somthing done by artist. It is the same in music, books, movies and art. I dont want to listen to music that are done only becuz it should be a great profit. the same for movies and every other expressionform. I dont like concepts like "fps". it makes me so bored.

try some nice SNES games or why not some cool wii games and perhaps change your mind?

Side-scrollers have been around for a long time. FPS games are more recent. There are some good side scrollers, and there are some good FPSs. They both have their share of bad games. One is not better than the other in a general sense, only by opinion.

But yes, the 3DS will have it's share of side-scrollers.

I didn't really mean it like that, personally i'm not a huge fan of FPS, plus my parents don't approve of them...*grumbles*... I actually like side-scrollers it's just they won't bring out the 3dness very well probably just create 2 or 3 flat 'layers'. I'm sure they will be good and fun to play just not extra-super-brilliantly-better in 3d.

Oh and about liking FPS; i don't even have an xbox or ps3 (just wii and ds) so they aren't that many options available to me anyway, in fact the only FPS i've got it metroid prime hunters which i don't play much anyway. I did have COD on ds but soon got bored of the same thing over and over again, zelda or professor layton are more my style of games.

Well, Nintendo did say that this system was going to appeal to "hardcore" gamers, so I assume there will be a lot of FPS on the console, unfortunately. I say "unfortunately" because I feel that FPS have seriously lost quality recently compared to the earlier ones (play Quake and play Halo 3, see which one has more effort put into it).

I never understood why FPS is considered "hardcore", especially since most of them are really easily beaten. I say you're not hardcore until you beat Contra without taking a hit.

That's what hardcore used to mean, as it meant difficulty. Nowadays, "hardcore" to people means blood, gore, sex, violence, etc., and a lot of that can be found in shooters (not necessarily first-person).

It really depends on how the side scroller is implemented. I'd like to take, for example, Kirby 64 as a game most won't think about when thinking of side-scrollers.
