The 3DS needs lots of these.

Sidescrolling RPGs/Beat em' Up like Marumasa Blade, Odin Sphere, Castle Crashers.

The 3DS would be perfect, you could have gorgeous 3D backgrounds with gorgeous 3D sprites, and of course, multiplayer,

    Thoughts?

While there will definitely be some 2.5d "3d" games... I honestly don't see the thrill of having 2d sprites popping out vector style... It won't look beautiful and it won't add anything to gameplay aside from "ooooh the character stands out a little from the background!"

IE not a very useful gimmick.

I think it is highly likely that 2.5D beat-em-up games like you describe will be made given that they are cheaper to develop than full polygonal 3D. At the $40 price point, full 3D games won't have much wiggle room for profit (especially for 3rd parties).

I still think that should have been on the DS.
It would have been perfect for a Nintendo console, and the DS could allow great local multiplayer.

I think this would be great for the Castlevania series. Since Symphony of the Night, the Castlevania games have sported very impressive parallax scrolling techniques, to give the backgrounds layers of depth. I'd rather have a 2D Castlevania game with layers of 3D depth, than a 3D Castlevania game. Just my opinion.

I'd really like to see some side-scrolling games for the 3DS. I enjoyed Muramasa on the Wii, something like that for the 3DS would be interesting nice to see. I'm sure a Castlevania game is bound to go on the 3DS just looking at its history on portable consoles.

I think they already have a few side-scrollers planned.

Side scrollers won't be as good as something like an FPS...
    unless...
they had some motion sensing thing (like the i phone etc) where as you tilted the 3ds itmoved the background and character with it if you know what i mean, then that would be cool.

First part of this post is ridiculous.

Second part of this post is nothing but a gimmick that would only be good in 1/15 of the games it'd be used in.

    Oh my god yes!! [IMG]
Eighteen played Muramasa for wii on PC and tried it in 3D.. and it is AWESOME!!!! [IMG]
though the game is totally 2D.. the layers used in the game give it a really really relaly good 3D layer effect.
on the 3DS it would be soooo cool!!!!

I didn't notice Castle Crashers in the first post.

This would just make me want it more.
