Hey, I'm trying my hand at extracting the songs and data in the new Taiko no Tatsujin game, I wanted to extract the sounds and songs to have as mp3s, and try to look at the data to see if any more unlocks can be found (such as the mcdonalds song unlock here http://nintendo5star.blogspot.com/2010/07/...51st-song.html). Besides sound codes for the unlocks, there's hiragana input, so hopefully more unlocks will be somewhere in there.
My problem is with the songs... I've used dsbuff to extract the data, and the sounds are visible in the /Data/Sound/ folder of the unpack, but they are all in .dsb format. dssndext.exe was able to get files in the wavsample folder it extracts, but they are all the game/wifi play/rpg/menu sfx, but not the songs. has any other game used this sound format, and has anyone had luck decoding them? I searched the forums but it looks like with other games you can look at the .strm or .sdat files, but there isn't one in the game.
As far as unlocks, looks like there's no extra songs, but there's another drum sound besides the small taiko sound you get with the mcdonald's song unlock, it's Mekadon (the robot drum from autoplay mode). the other unlocks should be costumes and masks, since the spaces are there, i'll try to figure out how to extract the images (they are .pb files in the /data/Image/ folder) and see if I can find the strings that need to be entered to unlock them... don't expect too much though, this is my first experience with ROM hacking, so I'm learning as I go.
