IMO tags should be added to any thread (and maybe replies?) like i write:

STRUYA CFW RELEASE!

and i tag it with (troll) (struya) (release) etc. and a sorting function so you only see the posts you need.
and also there shouldn't be a limit on what words you can use when searching. this pisses me of! like i search for "3ds R4" and i can not use any of the words because there is "too many" results

We did have that before the move to xenforo, nobody beyond the staff and a few users really made all that much use of it.

Perhaps you might consider adding a searchable (so longer than the minimum and no likely to otherwise come up in conversation) term to use with the regular search engine.

yes searchable terms would be good!
EDIT: but maybe before posting you could be forced to add at least one tag (this would be a problem for existing threads)

I have used it a few times when doing features, I do not know if we have a decent API to make always updated searches happen though.
