So, I had this idea of getting a tablet for uni.
Android or iOS anything works for me really :)

I want something with extremely good battery life and preferably large screen. 9+ inches.

Any suggestions?

Price is debatable.. should be able to afford anything related to uni really :).

A tablet will not be a sufficient device for University - you'll be expected to hand in papers, and to write efficiently, you need a keyboard and a proper office software package. Tablets won't give you either, with a few exceptions.

Get a laptop, and if you cannot afford one, even a netbook will do. Tablets are "cool", but laptops are "smart".

There is a reason why I want a tablet. It would force me to go through my notes basically lol.

I scribble a lot when I take notes and always tell myself and others that I will go through my notes and re-write for clarity. That never happens.

I wanna take notes on the tablet, scribble and what not.. and write proper notes in the note book later on :). That way I would actually go through the notes and pick up more from the lectures.
I am just a lazy ass mofo.. this year I want to get the best grade possible.. I have plans. I just wanna restrict myself, give me more reasons to learn and study better :)

edit: And I do have a pretty high end laptop already. Just want something more "mobile". with the tablet, I would be able to carry that, notebook and my books in my bag just fine :D
edit: also saving paper LOL. that way I would only make 1 hard copy of the notes ;)

Writing by-hand on a tablet really isn't as great as it sounds - it's not a replacement for pen and paper in my opinion. You're better off with a simple notebook.

You don't need notes. I got a 2.1 Politics degree from one of the top ten politics schools in the country and I never read over my notes.

Seriously taking notes by hand and than going through them digitally is much better. Using a pen and paper is much much better than than trying to write notes via a touchscreen.

Is it not precise or something?
As long as it writes.. not a horrible touchscreen like the DS or something lol.

lol smartass :P. I always go through diagrams, notes and shit. I do better if I go through things from my own understanding. Of course I go through books too, but going through notes from my own understanding just helps me better.

if you really want a tablet for notes then the galaxy note 10.1 is probably what you want to get

I got a Transformer Prime in my last semester, for use in some classes including English. Even with the dock, a proper laptop would have been five times better.

Get a laptop.

The tablet's fantastic for other things, but for college you need a laptop.

I do have a laptop. Pretty decent one on top.
For presentations and all the other uses I will definetely use the laptop.

But for notes, and daily things I would prefer using something light and mobile.
Tab.. I can carry around like a note book or just put in my bags with all the other books and things that I will have with me.

We got a guy on our uni course that bought a ipad 3 specifically for the course, I think i've seen him use it twice in 8 months, they're just not practical for note taking at a fast pace

I would suggest something like this if you're really bent on getting a tablet: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--VVzaHM30p8/TmTdNQgD-9I/AAAAAAAAAAM/UpzXhIOUr28/s1600/Dell-latest-laptops-2011....1.jpg

If you don't mind Windows 8, you could wait for Win8 tablets to come out. Just plug in a keyboard and mouse and you've pretty much got a laptop.

You are really better off with a notebook/notepad and a digital recorder (if the university allows recording of lectures) instead of a tablet. As it was mentioned, fast-paced scribbling just doesn't work out on a touchscreen.

If you want to flash get an Ipad but you could also get an iphone 5 there pretty good and you can take notes.

i can't imagine scribbling notes on any tablet. scribbling notes with a wacom tablet is difficult enough. i would get something with a keyboard.

If you are one who just scribbles notes, perhaps Galaxy Note 10.1? I've tried it, it's generally an OK tablet for writing but it does lag a bit.

If you are more of a docs person, maybe an iPad with Pages, or any tab with some office app like Polaris.

haha everyone is for hard notes :P

My girlfriend has a laptop but she wanted a tablet. I convinced her to get an ASUS Transformer. She got it today. I hope that was a good idea.
