There won't be a guide made for this as it is too dangerous for the average user. any screw up in the process can kill your wii.

I started one and got half-way through it and said, fuck it... I was kinda scared I'd leave some small, important step and help brick 10 or so Wii's and wouldn't feel a thing on my end... but damn would the victims.... so.... I said....nnaaaaaaaaaah....

If someone wants to make one I can help edit or proof-read it for ya before it goes out... or if not in a few days I think DJTaz will end up gathering some important intel after he gives it a whirl and compiles the posts, questions, etc... but then again...he may be overwhelmed after all the hard work he has put into the previous zips, tutorials, channels, and wadder.net Anyways... I'm sure we can figure it out soon so anyone willing to take the unnecessary brick chance....Go 4 it!

I just really don't think putting a guide out is a good idea... only one person has tested updating after doing this. and thats only one region. Who knows what the other regions would do, and also what happens when ninty puts out the update to 3.5... if they were to institute another patch to the existing IOS's we could end up with dead wii's everywhere.

I'm probably wrong here but, if your installing using the cios wads, isn't the only full brick risk during the cios30.wad installation?

Edit: I'm only talking about the installation process here, not the future update risks.

during install on 3.2 yes. on 3.4 ios50 is the brick risk. Like i said in my most recent post its updates that scare me the most. Because despite the number one rule of softmodding being dont update everytime a new update comes out we have 100 people who "accidentally" updated

well at the moment am up and running, playing FIFA 09 online as we speak..(wez84 is anyone fancys a match lol)

anyway, i kinda agree with digitydogs that this isnt for everyone, am lucky in the fact that i own my own Wii and fingers crossed it doesnt but if it does brick, its my responsibility and i will have to buy another.

not everyone is in the same boat, neither can they afford to risk there console so recklessly, but the successful install count must be about 10 or so right now, so hey its looking stable so far.

another important note is....will cSM install over this???? hmm....do we need it?

this just popped into my head but ninty may have given us some free brick protection for future updates. I mean, if you accidently install 3.4 or higher they overwrite the sysmenu and add ios50 to run it off of so having a modified cios30 shouldn't really be an issue should it?

Again the danger is in the way the update the IOS. lets say they try to run a patch instead of a replace... the ios they goto patch isn't whats expected so you end up with a corrupt wii. Wiigator himself said that an insider from Ninty told him they are having enough problems not bricking unaltered Wii's, let alone altered ones. We've been lucky so far that updates haven't caused massive brickage.

so potentially we could of just limited the our ability to do a legit update??

i know this could be a problem in the future with the new releases requiring new IOS, would this not jus become an ongoing process of patching and installed the new IOS sort of like the situation that arisen the GH/RB instrustments and such.

hopefully cSM will install over CORPCIOS and hopefully will provide a feature just like discussed the other day using Dark Alex's method of patching the updates on the fly.

or i just fucked my Wii lol

if i knew how to to back-up my IOS's i would of..

IronMask told me to dump my NAND, no one said nish about backing up my original IOS's

either way for the time being its working, what exactly where the results of updating for the guy who tried and did he go to 3.4?

dumping the NAND would have given you all your original IOS's lol.
The update to 3.4 wiped out the changes. but wasn't used enough before re-downgrading and changing IOS's to see if it caused any actual problems.
It was only one region that was tried. and like i said its the next update that scares me.

and obviously theres gonna come a time when we gonna have to update..

never the less this is a quality achievement and i will probably install it on my brothers Wii since he has kids and the back-up channel can confuse them and he has to load all there games, this will just be easier.

From this moment on though I assume its better to just wait for cSM/BootMii and see where the scene goes from there. my mission of 2009 is to learn C if only to be able to understand the source of these things, and maybe in the future contribute.

i think that "no one said nish about IOS's" comment just cemented my thirst for learnin some shit this year lol

Just took me like 2 hours to read through this thread, was hoping i wouldnt have to post but i dint discover the CIOS30.wad

yeeaahhhhh boiiiiii lol

succcess man, disc channel loading...!! just tried QOS007, COD:WAW and NFS Undercover and all working.

to all involved, fuckin amaziin achievement guys..

would it be possible to automate the process of the wad install into a PatchMii kinda thing.?? or is that the aim of the project.

am officially permantley modded, think its time to go buy my arse a gamecube pad tho just incase lol

I can't stress enough how i oppose an installer that installs all the cIOS at once. We've all seen our share of err-xxxx codes with this stuff and if by some weird chance the IOS are getting fouled up, you only want to have 1 foul up at a time. We have no reports here yet of failures, but come on... it don't take long to install the wads with wad manager. I say this because once I booted from twilit hack to what i thought was wad manager. It turned out to be wad installer instead and started automatically installing all the wad i had on my SD, which is abou 800M worth. I was lucky to be able to abort it without disaster but it sure was scary. Could have been my second brick.

I might write something up and apply my rambling details. I love trying to describe technical stuff in simple understandable terms. Actually I just have no control over my rambling. I'm a ramblin guy. You gotta admit though, I rambled a pretty good description of my experience with making my JiizBlaster!

{setvar ramble mode=0}

As far as directions go, jeez, Up or Downgrade to 3.2, install starfall, install cIOS package.

there we go, install direction completed.

Next Project?

My buddy wanted me to do this to his Wii, despite me explaining the risk (in fact I lied and told him chances were high his wii would become completely worthless because I really didn't want the responsibility). He persisted, so I figured whythehellnot.

Got nervous waiting for the system to restart after putting the DIP'd IOS30 on there.

But count another success.
