Hello!
Been a while since digging around here and playing with Switch so just wondering if there is a noob guid to get me up to speed.
I have v2 switch soldered chip and ancient SX OS with Tinfoil v16 running and main system is in version 11.0.0.
What's the best way to get this setup up to speed with latest system and whatever the best modern alternative is to SX OS?
Sorry for silly question...
I'd suggest that you backup your save files if necessary so that you can restore them later once you switch to Atmosphere. Not sure which app works on SX OS, though, as I didn't use SX OS for that long (at one point I wanted to give Atmosphere and SX OS dual boot a try and gave up for the time being as it was much easier to have Atmosphere only which is up-to-date CFW for Switch). You should probably format your microSD card afterwards to FAT32 (after you back up anything you deem necessary, like your
SX OS licence, saves,
console specific keys and
backups) or get yourself a new one and set up Atmosphere CFW on emuNAND.
You can follow
this guide from
here, since you have a modchip installed. I'm not sure if you need to update your modchip, though.
If you're using SX-Core or SX-Lite, check
this out as well. Again, I'm not familiar with the modchips as I have an unpatched v1 model.
As of now, firmware 18.1.0 is the latest supported firmware by Atmosphere CFW (1.7.1), while 19.0.0 is still being worked on (there's a Atmosphere 1.8.0 pre-release on the GIthub which you can check out if you want, but you can skip it and update later sometime once everything's ironed out). Sigpatches/sys-patch will need to be updated for games to work on the latest firmware and Atmosphere CFW, so I'd suggest that you stick to firmware 18.1.0 and Atmosphere 1.7.1 for now.
For game backups to work, you'll need sigpatches and/or sys-patch module (recommended).
Here's the sys-patch module that works on those versions.
As for Hekate, I believe that you can update it to the latest version without any issue.
