how can i enter non applet mod without a game

I use a different installer (like Tinwoo) that can run in applet mode to install the Very small Othello.nsp. I keep Othello on my system for the very purpose of providing my first Title so I can do title override.

Also, some time ago, I did my own notes for updating Atmosphère, Hekate, SigPatches and Tinfoil and I see I have a few more steps than the ones in Rentry guide. For instance, I rename hekate_ctcaer_5.9.0.bin to payload.bin. Isn't this needed?

The copying of Hakate.x.x.x.bin to payload.bin is only for specific use case:

And rename hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin to payload.bin (this step applies only to SX Core/Lite & SX Pro users).

You may be mixing things.

Hekate always has having a SD:/bootloader/Payloads folder, used to chain boot payloads from NYX or ini file.
Other homebrew could have different folder for payloads, by example, ArgonNX uses SD:/Argon/Payloads.

before on 3DS you can load payloads from SD:/payloads using Luma.

I neglected my Nintendo Switch for a while, here's the situation:

EmuMMC with SX OS V3.0.5
CFW 10.1.0
OFW 10.2.0

I would like to get rid of the dead SX OS and switch to Atmosphere. How do I do that?
Can you please point me to a guide or something?

SX OS is just a rip off of Atmosphere anyways so it'll operate the same but without .XCI loading. But what do you mean by "updating"? Do you mean updating the firmware or the CFW?

I meant the OFW, as I actually plan to not use any emunand and jusy the sysnand to play online.

As long as you never loaded CFW and/or homebrew on your sysMMC, you should be fine to update the firmware on your sysMMC and play online without worrying about a ban.

I get that, but I still would like to keep the ability to eventually install a CFW, would that be possible if I update the sysmmc? Again, the switch has a modchip soldered on. KInd regards

First, you do not "install" CFW. CFW are just a bunch of files on the SD card. They are never installed to the SD card nor to the console. They are simply loaded whenever you launch a payload and the effects wear off when you turn the console off therefore they are never installed. Secondly, the ability to use CFW is tied to the ability to launch payloads which only unpatched consoles can do. Unpatched consoles are named as such because the exploit of launching payloads is tied to their hardware and unless you send the console to Nintendo, your hardware will never update. To put it another way, your firmware is irrelevant with respect to the ability to use CFW.

O ok. I was convinced that the payloads folder was payload before.
So, upgrading from previous Hekate and Atmosphère doesn't need to have the hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin. Another confusion of mine. I had this step in my notes, somehow!

guys, this morning I updated my atmosphere + hekate + patches to the last version on my 14.1.2 emunand, and then I updated the OFW to 15.0.1 via system menu to be able to play overwatch 2 online.
my emunand still does work, i can play games but now i have some problems when booting. i get the error "failed to match warmbot with fuses" and i cant put the switch to sleep. is that a critical problem? do i have to worry?
