The answer to your question is yes but you are technically already running Atmosphere as your CFW. Shallowsea is the name of a package, not a CFW; its a package of Atmosphere plus Hekate and some homebrew applications. You aren't running a CFW that is different from Atmosphere. In fact, the only other available CFW is SX OS which isn't recommended to be using anymore since it no longer supports any firmware past 11

im totally noob in terms of switch, can i have like other images/payload or whatever with atmosphere only without any additions, like one atmosphere with shallowsea one with atmos only

i will try as soon as i get off work. could I have deleted OFW some how? i tried putting sxos boot back on and i cant even get sxos to come back.

Good stuff. No way in hell you deleted HOS. It’s just hidden behind Hecate at the moment because Atmos can’t boot for some reason (possibly corruption based on the number and variety of errors you’re getting). I’m not even remotely concerned and neither should you be. We’ll get this.

Perfect…let it roll. This will definitely give us the all clear on your card. Once we’re certain, just format FAT32 with Rufus and we can drop HATS back on, create a new emunand and we should be done!

I just tested the HATS-Combo as well…it’s good too. Sthetix makes good stuff.

Also is it irrelevant what firmware the switch is on with v1 unpatched switches?

It’s his loss for not removing his account before he handed it to you. Recovery menu will be fine. If you’re on a V1 you have an unpatchable system for life. If you have FW 4.x.x or lower you MAY want to consider keeping it on the RARE chance a software base hack becomes available for lower revisions. Other than that feel free to upgrade to any FW version you’d like. You will always have a hackable switch no matter what. Patching your Sysnand via Ninty servers is perfectly fine. The update logs for Sysnand will read exactly as expected.

Nobody knows. Most people would agree that we've reached the halfway point of the Nintendo Switch's lifecycle and the console is still selling really well. Forget what the next Nintendo console and/or handheld will be, the success of the Switch can carry Nintendo for several more years before they need to move to next gen.

i'm going crazy here, but i just can't load into atmosphere

i have an RCM loader jig and it boots fine into hekate (version 5.7.2) and im on switch firmware 14.1.0. i have followed both these guides and no success:

i don't know what i am doing wrong, i followed those guides and have the emummc backup done and such already, it just fails to load (just shows the hekate ipl logo for a second) and then the screen goes black.

Is there any idea how to solve this?

Quick thing to check, did you upgrade fusee.bin and where did you get your Sigpatches?

thanks but i feel dumb, as i formatted the card and tried again and this time it worked.

no idea what i did differently, but it was enough to get it working. hopefully i dont have issues updating in future but luckily it was simple

I would argue that the "pro version" already exists in the form of the OLED. If you don't feel that is sufficient to qualify as a "pro version", then don't expect a "pro version" to ever be released. Nintendo does not release "pro versions" of their consoles. The one & only time they did was with the Nintendo 3DS which did very poorly and only had a handful of games that took advantage of the better hardware.

i press and hold +- and nothing happens.

Power off by holding the power button for 15 seconds.

press and hold both (vol +) and (vol -) buttons and while holding them down tap the power button and then continue to hold the (vol +) and (vol -) buttons and wait patiently while it boots into maintenance mode. Unless your switch is seriously broken this should work exactly how the official Nintendo docs indicate.

E: to clarify, just in case, it’s the two volume buttons right next to the power button that we’re talking about…not the + and - keys on the Joy cons.
