All we can say it's maybe patched. You can get lucky and it's unpatched or you are not.
If you don't want to gamble on it, get one in the Safe region.
Someone just brought a Switch to me, with Serial number XAJ1003xxxx, and it was a patched unit. Bought from a brick and mortar store. I didn't ask for the stock firmware version, but even if I did, they didn't seem like they'd remember.
I know you don't want to but you should move the tl dr to the top, then the FAQ, then the template, no one can read and are so damn lazy
Imo the tutorial on checking patched units is bad. No one will bother checking their units if steps list something like "insert your jig" "boot into RCM" without properly explaining what it means AND what it looks like. There is link for entering a "Recovery Mode" but how would a new comer make a connection to "RCM". If anything it should be abbreviated "RM", or written as "Recovery Mode(RCM)".
Best if you can include a video tutorial on how to check if the switch is patched or not from youtube or something. With different methods of entering into RCM. Many would not bother buying a jig just to check if their unit is patched or not.
Then it's their loss.
Buying a jig or even a payload injector like ns-atmosphere (which comes with its own jig) is a good investment for someone who is trying to get a Switch to hack it. Even if the first Switch he gets is patched, he'll keep looking for an unpatched unit. Worse case scenario if he never finds an unpatched Switch... he's out a few bucks.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.

Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
