Hey, I have a theory why original DL/DVD9 doesn't work on Wiikey. First take a look at my post here. In summary I wanted to use v1.9b so the DVD drive can read my backups at 6x instead of 3x on 1.9g. SL disc reads at 6x while surprising DL disc still reads at 3x. Now if I remember didn't Wiikey team release 1.9b to support DL disc? If so, I would assume the DL support was for GCN games (using GCOS) because GCN games are read at 3x! My theory here is that the reason why it couldn't read the original DL disc because Wiikey assume it's a GCN disc and couldn't read the GCN "header/TOC (or whatever's called)" on the Wii DL disc thus failed/give the disc read error.

Why would a backup work then if the original wouldn't?

Because there's something that wouldn't make it work on a NTSC-U Wii chipped with Wiikey.

I can dump it for you...but by the time you mail it to me, it takes 40 hours to dump. Maybe by the time I finish it a dumper group would release it.

I'm an option though.

why would the TC trust you on sending his disc? you might just keep it for yourself and never give it back to him.

Because I have a sense of the scene and not greed perhaps? Considering how I've had membership here for several years and because I'm not 15 years old and have a sense of property ownership.

It is an offer merely...and I have no benefit keeping someone else's disc...I can merely buy it.

To be honest, sending the disc from Europe to Canada would take at least a few days plus 40 hours to dump the whole thing and upload it on the interwebz. By the time, some other group will probably release it. Unless you want to pay for the ups next day air but, then agian, what's the point?

If this is the same situation as the JP Brawl, then a lot of other chips with DL support will be perfectly fine. The only chip with a problem was the Wiikey, which for some reason also prohibited the play of the original.

he'd probably get caught, plus they count the ones the sell and subtract from what they started with, so if there's one missing they'd check the cameras or just check to see who was working that night in the back, he'd be an easy suspect.

Wiikey team stopped trying when they found out the backup worked. That is why they made the chip... for "backups".

Hopefully, they come back and release a new FW before or on the day of the release.

I know what they made the chip for but when it interferes with real games then we got a problem.
