Hacking Suggestions on what to do with my DS Phat

Okay, so I mainly play my sister's DS or my other sister's DSi because of the brighter screen and the fact that my DS phat's hinge is broken and the battery is essentially dying, holding about 4 hours charge max. I finally have gotten sick of borrowing a DS, and have decided to repair it and I was wondering the following things:

Would the following battery, case, etc be good choices?

Secondly, is there any way to find replacement LCD screens that have a higher brightness? My DS's firmware is only v4 (tested with the Pictochat exploit), so I can't add the brightness settings either.
