Hacking SSD for vWii / WiiU use?

Of course it's OK. I've been using a 128GB flash drive for years perfectly fine.
I don't know why it would even need anything like TRIM. It's not like it will run an OS from there... it just stores the games and save data.

For vWii you won't notice an improvement, but I'd be interested in the benefits of using an SSD on Wii U, since the it's possible that it could result in even faster loading but without 3.0 I doubt it. Might be something I'll have to try maybe.

I think the advantage is that it won't require an external power supply or an Y cable

I had to use a hub anyway, it worked some of the time but every now and again it dropped out as there wasn't enough power, regularly enough for it to be a problem. I also found if you use a hub however the WiiU recognises your drive when plugged in directly, it changes and wanted to wipe the data.
