ROM Hack SSB mods crashing during online play.

I have two questions. One, everytime I use SaltySD on Smash and try to play a friend online it crashes or disconnects. Is there a way to fix that?

And two, can you and the person you're playing with get banned by using a mod against a friend? I'd imagine using mods against friends is okay but I just want to make sure. I don't wanna accidentally get my friend banned because I chose to use mods.

What kind of mods are you talking about?
If it is just skins and texture packs then you should be able to play online without problem. If it is actual modding (Damage output and similars) I think you can't play online at all or with a friend unless both of you have the mod. I might be wrong but that's what I think it's happening.

Doesn't saltySD have a thing where online play doesn't work due to load times? Pretty sure I read that in the release thread for it. If it's since been fixed I apologize for the misinformation.

I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
