Hello there,

I tried to play some NTSC-J Virtual Console games on my Wii. I converted their region to "regionfree" with freethewads application. But now some of them work and some of them doesn't, even though they appear on my Wii menu.

For example, Nekketsu Soccer CD for PCE-CD works perfectly.

But some Famicom titles like Ninja Jajamaru or Super Famicom titles like Kirby's Bowl doesn't. Only a black screen appears and none of the button on my Wiimote works. It's so strange. Why?

By the I'm using a PAL Wii with component cables on a LCD TV.

I will be very happy if you can help me out on this!

Thanx!

Is that possible? How?

It's possible to do with AnyRegionChanger.

Console Game Mode: USA
Console Video Mode: NTSC

That works, just make sure don't touch other settings in AnyRegionChanger, and you'll be fine.

EDIT: If NTSC displays black & white, you can do a PAL60 patch in Wiiflow (doesn't work with N64 games for some reason).

But I have so many PAL games. Will they keep on working too?

Most PAL Wii games keep working. There are a very few 50hz only games though, like Mario Party 8 for Wii, gives a black screen on load.
PAL VCs will give a black screen on NTSC video and game modes. You can always change it back or just use the PAL60 patch in Wiiflow.

As for Gamecube games, use Nintendont or DIOS MIOS, they support retail discs which can boot and patch video mode in the settings of them.
A black screen also occurs if you try to play a PAL Gamecube game launched from the Wii Menu on NTSC video and game modes, so use Nintendont or DIOS MIOS for them.

Can't you just "region free EVERYTHING" in Priiloader?

That works to boot out of region games. However, the problem is that the console won't switch the video mode automatically for out of region VCs, so you have to use AnyRegionChanger to prevent blackscreening.

I can change to NTSC just fine on my PAL Wii.

I tried yesterday with Ogre Battle, which I was having issues because it always booted in PAL 50Hz, but after using that Custom Nand Loader Mod from stev418, it works as it should. It's great!
Ogre Battle from SNES or Ogre Battle 64 from N64? :)
