Hi guys I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

I have a Wii with a first generation Wiikey installed. Old games work fine but alot of new backed-up games don't run
or the wii doesn't even see them. I'm thinking of just installing the latest firmware and be done with it so
I can play the new super mario brothers and resident evil.

My questions:

How will this affect my old games working on my modchip?
How will this effect my homebrew channel?
Are there any other ways (software or hardware-wise) to solve my problems

Thanks in advance

I also have an original wiikey and I'm using Wii system 3.2u. I can run everthing including the new resident evil and the new mario Bros (through Gecko). I'm not sure if this applies to your wiikey but lately I've been having a similar problem. My wii would only show a disc in the game channel once every 10 times or so. I would have to reinsert the disc until it would catch - it was very frustrating. On the weekend I reran the Wii update disc and and the games run fine now. There is also a wiikey recovery disc out there that I tried about a year ago when I had the same problem. It also worked. I doubt updating your wii will make the games work any better. I think it might be a problem with the wiikey.
