so me and a friend have been having an argument over how software versions should be named. please can you people do this quick poll (only 2 required questions) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...sIjojQE4x68c1fK8cozjIUZA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Thank you. There really is no right or wrong way to do it. It's all about consitantcy pick one and run with it
It would have 2 decimals at most eg 3.0.0I would just flip a coin.
All I would suggest is be consistent and avoid too many decimals if it’s expected to be said regularly e.g. 3.1.4.1
You're welcome. For me it all just comes down to how much support the program is going to have after release - long term is always :Thank you.
It's long term, and I also want to use x.x.xYou're welcome. For me it all just comes down to how much support the program is going to have after release - long term is always :
major. Minor. Bugfix. (3.4.2)
Short term :
Major. Minor (3.4)
For one offs they usually just get code names - could really be anything and really depends on the program so if it was something related to the program... I just like hearing people saying things like "I'm having a problem with Donkey... Capybara was much more stable"
If your working on your own don't take shit from any one about it, if it's with other people make sure everyone is on the same pageIt's long term, and I also want to use x.x.x
I agree with you.If your working on your own don't take shit from any one about it, if it's with other people make sure everyone is on the same page
