Hacking Softmodded 4.1 to 4.2

Just a quick question I was hoping someone might help me with. So I've got a softmodded wii running 4.1. Is there a simpler way to update to 4.2 than officially updaing to 4.2 and then going through the entire process of softmodding again? I did it the first time so I'm sure it would be OK, but just wondered if there was a simpler way to do the update now.

if you officially update you will be on 4.3 and not be able to bannerbomb

Follow the guide at the top of the forum to modify any wii, it will update you to 4.2.

Ah thanks, the safe updater sounds like a good way to go.

Completely noob question - is there a way to play a game that wants to update the system menu without updating the system menu?

Most every game doesnt want or need a newer System Menu (or its IOS), what they MAY need is a newer or missing IOS.

You can install these manually for the rare case where that particlular IOS is required.
