I've been interested in ordering a Sky3DS, but was puzzled when I read that Sky3DS doesn't play "homebrew". On one particular instance, I heard an anonymous user state that one cannot play any mods or hacks for 3DS games with it, which got me wondering if "homebrew" is supposed to entail hacks and mods as well.

So is the term "homebrew" inclusive of these as well? I'd appreciate any help.

Homebrew is anything created "unoffically" hence the "home-brew" as in made at home. This means emulators, cheating, mods to roms ect. Any kind of modification.

As for sky3ds. It only plays legit retail cartridges, so no eShop ported games ect. It has to be a regular 3ds dump. If however your console is on 9.2 or bellow, you can use some homebrew bia ninjhax.

  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma

    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select

  • NinStar @ NinStar:

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
